IBPS PO XVI 2026 is the biggest banking recruitment of this year: 6,715 Probationary Officer / Management Trainee posts across public sector banks. Applications opened on 1 July 2026 and the last date is 21 July 2026. Prelims are expected in August, mains in October, with the process (CRP PO/MT-XVI) filling vacancies for the 2027-28 intake. Last updated: 09.07.2026.

For scale: last year’s PO cycle had roughly half this vacancy count. 6,715 posts changes the cut-off math completely, which is why even candidates who left banking prep mid-way are coming back for this one.

• A bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognised university, completed on or before the cut-off date in the notification.
• Age 20 to 30 years, with standard relaxations: OBC 3 years, SC/ST 5 years, PwD 10 years.
• Nationality and other conditions as per the IBPS notification.

Selection process

Three stages, same structure as previous years. Prelims has 100 questions in English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning, one hour, sectional timing. It only screens you for mains. Mains carries 200 marks of objective questions across Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English and Data Analysis, plus a 25-mark descriptive English test. The interview is 100 marks, and the final merit comes from mains plus interview in an 80:20 ratio. Prelims marks do not count in the final list.

How to apply

1. Go to the direct application page: ibpsreg.ibps.in/crppoxvijun26.
2. Register with basic details to get your provisional registration number and password.
3. Fill the full form, upload photo, signature, left thumb impression and the handwritten declaration in IBPS’s exact pixel specifications. Most rejections happen at this upload step, so follow the size chart in the notification.
4. Choose your preferred exam centres and bank preferences carefully. Bank preference order matters at allotment and cannot be changed later.
5. Pay the fee online and submit. Print the final form.

Which banks participate

The usual public sector banks recruit through this CRP: Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India, among others. SBI runs its own separate recruitment; its SBI PO 2026 notification was also out recently if you want both in your kitty.
