Note: The apply portal lets you keep it open in only one browser tab. If rrbapply.gov.in is already open in another tab, the new one shows an “already open in another tab” alert and goes back, so it looks as if the link did nothing. Close the other tab and click again. The link above opens in the same tab for this reason. The notification PDF is the official CEN 06/2026, unchanged from page 2, with one summary page we added in front. RRB’s own copy sits on rrb.indianrailways.gov.in under Recruitment (CENs), 06/2026, but that site rejects a direct PDF link unless its home page was opened first in the same browser. We checked both links on 08.10.2026.

Post wise vacancy and salary
| Post name | Vacancies, pay level and starting pay |
|---|---|
| Goods Train Manager | 2,750 posts at Level 5, initial pay Rs 29,200, medical standard A2. |
| Senior Clerk cum Typist | 371 posts at Level 5, initial pay Rs 29,200, medical standard C2. |
| Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist | 300 posts at Level 5, initial pay Rs 29,200, medical standard C2. |
| Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor | 127 posts at Level 6, initial pay Rs 35,400, medical standard B2. |
Note: Goods Train Manager is 77.5% of all posts, so most candidates are really competing for that one job. Its A2 medical standard is the strictest of the four, since Railway medical classes run from A (strictest) down to C. Check the A2 vision rules before ranking it first in the post preference list. Starting pay is basic pay only, before DA and allowances.
Category wise vacancy and the ST figure
| Reserved group | Posts in CEN 06/2026 |
|---|---|
| UR | 1,517 posts reserved for unreserved candidates across all RRBs. |
| OBC (NCL) | 873 posts for OBC non creamy layer candidates. |
| SC | 553 posts for Scheduled Caste candidates. |
| ST | 300 posts for Scheduled Tribe candidates, as per the Grand Total row. |
| EWS | 305 posts for economically weaker section candidates. |
Note: Several job sites print the ST figure as 873, which is the OBC number repeated. With 873 the categories add up to 4,121, which is more than the 3,548 posts notified. The CEN’s own All RRBs Grand Total row gives ST as 300, and with that the five categories add up to exactly 3,548. We added the figures ourselves on 08.10.2026.

| RRB Thiruvananthapuram | 25 | 0.7% |
| RRB Ahmedabad | 19 | 0.5% |
| All 21 RRBs | 3,548 | 100% |
Note: No page of the CEN totals the boards side by side, so we added each RRB’s Total row from Annexure B. Bilaspur alone has 542 posts and the top five boards hold 1,901, or 54% of the whole notification. Ahmedabad has just 19 and Thiruvananthapuram 25. Since a candidate can choose only one RRB and cannot change it later, the board’s own vacancy count matters more than its distance from home.
Eligibility, age limit and relaxation
| Eligibility rule | What CEN 06/2026 says |
|---|---|
| Qualification | A degree from a recognised university or its equivalent, for all four posts. |
| Result awaited | Candidates still waiting for their final degree result are not eligible. |
| Age limit | 18 to 33 years as on 01.01.2027 for every post. |
| Date of birth window | UR and EWS candidates must be born between 02.01.1994 and 01.01.2009. |
| OBC and SC ST relaxation | OBC (NCL) get 3 years and SC and ST get 5 years extra. |
| PwBD relaxation | 10 years for UR and EWS, 13 for OBC and 15 for SC and ST. |
| Widowed or divorced women | Upper age is 35 for UR and EWS, 38 for OBC and 40 for SC and ST. |
Note: Ex-servicemen get 3, 6 or 8 years by community, but only after their service length is deducted from their age, so the simple add on does not apply. Relaxations do not stack. A candidate who qualifies under two grounds gets the larger one. SC, ST and OBC candidates who apply against UR vacancies get no age relaxation.
Selection process and NTPC Graduate exam pattern
| Selection stage | Pattern under CEN 06/2026 |
|---|---|
| CBT 1 | 100 questions in 90 minutes, with General Awareness 40, Mathematics 30, Reasoning 30. |
| CBT 2 | 120 questions in 90 minutes, with General Awareness 50, Mathematics 35, Reasoning 35. |
| Negative marking | One third of a mark is deducted for each wrong answer in both CBTs. |
| Qualifying marks | 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC and SC, and 25% for ST. |
| CBT 2 shortlist | 15 times the community wise vacancies of each RRB, by CBT 1 normalised marks. |
| Typing skill test | Dispensed with for CEN 06/2026, for both typist posts. |
| Final stage | Document verification and medical examination, then empanelment by merit. |
Note: The CEN says typing skill will instead be judged after joining, and poor typing can delay confirmation or promotion. Keep practising anyway. Typing is no longer an exam stage here, but it still counts once you join. CBT 1 is a screening test only, and the final merit for document verification comes from CBT 2 normalised marks. Candidates using a scribe get 120 minutes in each CBT.
Application fee and refund
| Fee category | Fee and refund |
|---|---|
| General, OBC and EWS | Rs 500, of which Rs 400 is refunded after appearing in CBT 1. |
| SC, ST, PwBD and ExSM | Rs 250, fully refunded after appearing in CBT 1. |
| Female, transgender, minority and EBC | Rs 250, fully refunded after appearing in CBT 1. |
| Refund condition | Only candidates who actually sit CBT 1 get the refund, less bank charges. |
Note: EBC is not OBC and not EWS. It needs an EBC certificate in the Annexure IIIA format, a BPL card, an Izzat MST or a central poverty programme certificate, issued on or before 06.11.2026. A certificate dated after the closing date is rejected at document verification, and the concession goes with it.
