Eligibility
Educational qualification
You need one of these to apply:
- Class 10th with ITI from NCVT or SCVT in Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Diesel Mechanic, Wireman or a related trade
- Class 10th with a Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Automobile Engineering
- B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Automobile Engineering

Payment is online only: net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. Most of the fee comes back after you sit Stage 1.
Selection process
- Stage 1 CBT: 75 questions in 60 minutes. Screening only. 1/3 negative marking.
- Stage 2 CBT Part A: 100 questions in 90 minutes. This is the merit stage.
- Stage 2 CBT Part B: 75 trade-specific questions in 60 minutes. Qualifying only — minimum 35%, no negative marking.
- Stage 3 CBAT: Computer Based Aptitude Test for ALP posts only. Minimum T-Score 42 in each of five test batteries.

How to apply
- Go to rrbapply.gov.in and register with your mobile number and email.
- Fill in your personal details, educational qualification and trade or discipline.
- Upload your photo (20 to 50 KB, JPG) and signature (10 to 40 KB, JPG).
- Select the RRB zone where you want to apply.
- Pay the fee and submit. Download the confirmation page and keep it.
