How the scoring works
| Answer type | Marks |
|---|---|
| Correct answer | +2 |
| Wrong answer | -0.5 |
| Unanswered | 0 |
So if you get 85 correct, you score 170 marks. 10 wrong costs you 5 marks. That leaves 165.
What’s the cutoff?
These are estimates based on previous years. The actual cutoff depends on difficulty level and how many people apply.
| Category | Expected score (out of 400) | Percentage |
|---|---|---|
| General | 240-260 | 60-65% |
| OBC | 220-240 | 55-60% |
| SC/ST | 200-220 | 50-55% |
| EWS | 235-255 | 58-63% |
How to prepare
- Plan for 8-10 weeks. Cover all 10 topics systematically.
- Start with the fundamentals: Programming, data structures, database.
- Take mock tests regularly. This is how you find your weak spots.
- Keep a formula sheet for quick revision.
- Don’t guess. Wrong answers cost you 0.5 marks. Only attempt if you’re fairly sure.
- Manage your time: 1.8 minutes per question. Focus on high-priority topics first.
