Roll-number qualified listPublished 8 May 2026, an 882 KB PDF listing qualified roll numbers only
Examination this result belongs toCombined Defence Services Examination (I), 2026, written examination held on 12 April 2026
What qualifying actually meansSelection for the Services Selection Board interview conducted by the Ministry of Defence, not final selection
Are both files still liveYes. Both were re-tested on the Commission server on 22 August 2026 and open normally

Name wise list or roll number list — which one to open

Which CDS list should I openReason to pick that one
If you remember your roll numberOpen the roll-number list. It is the smaller file, the faster search, and it was published first
If you have lost your roll numberOpen the name-wise list published on 20 May, which carries names against roll numbers
If someone is checking on your behalfThe name-wise list is the practical one, since a name is easier to confirm than a remembered roll number
If your name is a common oneConfirm the roll number printed beside the name rather than trusting the name alone, because duplicates are normal in a national list
If the file will not open on mobileThe name-wise file is close to 2 MB and can stall on a weak connection; let it download fully before searching

How to check your CDS 1 2026 result

  1. Open the name-wise or roll-number PDF from the Important Links table at the end of this page.
  2. Wait for the file to finish downloading. A partly loaded PDF returns no search matches and looks exactly like a failed result.
  3. Press Ctrl+F, or use your reader’s find option on mobile, and type your full roll number or your name exactly as printed on the e-admit card.
  4. If the entry appears, note the roll number printed against it and keep a screenshot.
  5. Check the other list as well. The two files were published twelve days apart and it costs nothing to confirm on both.
  6. Watch your registered email, because the SSB interview call and Selection Centre allotment reach candidates through the Commission and the Ministry of Defence, not through this PDF.

What if your roll number is not found in the list

Search the exact roll number printed on your e-admit card rather than a partial number, and try the name-wise file separately before concluding anything, because the two documents were released on different dates. If the entry is absent from both, the written score did not reach the cut-off drawn for this cycle. UPSC does not re-evaluate CDS written papers, and the marks of candidates who are not recommended are published only after the entire selection process for that examination is complete — which is why the marks file for CDS (II) 2025 appeared in August 2026, months after its own written result.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the CDS 1 2026 result name wise list available?

Yes. UPSC published the name-wise list of candidates qualified in the CDS (I) 2026 written examination on 20 May 2026, twelve days after the roll-number list of 8 May 2026.

What is the difference between the name wise list and the roll number list?

The roll-number list carries only qualified roll numbers. The name-wise list carries candidate names alongside their roll numbers, which is what to use if you no longer have your roll number.

When was the CDS 1 2026 written examination held?

On 12 April 2026. The written result followed on 8 May 2026 in roll-number form and on 20 May 2026 in name-wise form.

Does qualifying in the CDS 1 2026 written result mean I am selected?

No. It means you are called for the Services Selection Board interview conducted by the Ministry of Defence. Final selection follows SSB and the medical board.

Is the CDS 1 2026 final result declared?

No. As on 22 August 2026 the UPSC What's New board carries no final result for CDS (I) 2026. The SSB interview stage is still running.

How do I search my name in the CDS 1 2026 result PDF?

Download the file fully, then press Ctrl+F, or use the find option in your mobile PDF reader, and type your name exactly as printed on the e-admit card. Confirm the roll number printed beside it.

My roll number is not in the list. Can I ask for re-evaluation?

No. UPSC does not re-evaluate CDS written papers. Check both files first, because they were published on different dates, before concluding that the score fell short.

When will I get my CDS 1 2026 marks?

Marks of candidates who are not recommended are published only after the entire selection process for that examination is complete. For CDS (II) 2025 that file appeared on 21 August 2026, months after its written result.

How long does the SSB interview take?

Five days at a Selection Centre, covering screening, psychological tests, group testing and the interview. It assesses officer-like qualities rather than academic knowledge.

Is a recommendation at SSB the same as selection?

No. A medical examination follows the recommendation, and a candidate is not selected until the medical board clears them.

Which academies does the CDS final result cover?

The Indian Military Academy, the Indian Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy and the Officers Training Academy, listed academy-wise in the final result PDF.

Where can I see the next CDS examination schedule?

The CDS (II) 2026 examination time table was published by UPSC on 10 August 2026 and is linked in the Important Links table on this page.
