IOB Apprentice 2026 vacancy details

Out of 750 total posts, vacancies are distributed state-wise, with the largest shares going to Tamil Nadu (200), Uttar Pradesh (110), Maharashtra (85), Delhi (53), and Bihar and West Bengal (35 each). The remaining posts are spread across other states and union territories. Check the official notification PDF for the complete state-wise and category-wise breakup, since IOB revises the list occasionally before the application deadline.

Eligibility for IOB Apprentice 2026

  • Age: 20 to 28 years as on 01.07.2026 (SC/ST get 5 years relaxation, OBC gets 3 years, PwBD relaxation as per government norms)
  • Qualification: A degree in any discipline from a recognised university. If you’re still awaiting your final result, it must be declared on or before 31.07.2026 to qualify
  • Applicants should not have already completed an apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act with any bank

Category-wise reservation

Alongside the usual SC/ST/OBC/EWS reservation applied to the 750 posts, IOB has also set aside a share for persons with benchmark disabilities: 19 posts for hearing impairment (HI), 16 for orthopaedic/locomotor disability (OC), 17 for visual impairment (VI), and 16 for intellectual disability (ID). These figures are drawn from within the total 750, not in addition to it.

Application fee

CategoryFee (incl. 18% GST)
SC / ST / PwBD₹236
General / OBC / EWS (Female)₹708
General / OBC / EWS (Male)₹944

Monthly stipend

Selected apprentices are paid a fixed monthly stipend for the one-year term, and it varies by where you’re posted rather than by any exam score:

Branch CategoryStipend
Metro₹15,500
Urban₹14,500
Semi-Urban / Rural₹14,000

Selection process

IOB shortlists apprentices in three stages: an online written examination worth 100 marks, followed by a local language test to confirm you can work comfortably in the language of your assigned state, and finally a personal interaction round if the bank decides to hold one for your category. There’s no interview in the traditional sense unless this last stage is triggered.

Keep in mind this is an apprenticeship under a central labour law, not a recruitment exam for a permanent post. Finishing the one-year term doesn’t come with any promise of a regular job at IOB afterward — candidates who want a permanent banking role still need to apply separately when the bank or IBPS opens PO or clerk recruitment.

Documents to keep ready before applying

  • Scanned passport-size photograph and signature in the size and format specified in the notification
  • Degree certificate and marksheet, or provisional certificate if the result was declared after 01.07.2026 but before 31.07.2026
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS) if claiming reservation, issued in the prescribed government format
  • PwBD certificate from a competent medical authority, if applying under that category
  • A valid ID proof and active email/mobile number for OTP verification during registration

How to apply for IOB Apprentice 2026

  1. Go to the official application portal at beep.bfsissc.com (this recruitment is run through the BFSI Sector Skill Council, not IOB’s own careers page directly)
  2. Register with a valid email ID and mobile number
  3. Fill in your personal, educational, and category details
  4. Upload photograph, signature, and required documents in the specified format
  5. Pay the application fee based on your category
  6. Submit and save the confirmation page and application number for future reference

If your photo or signature doesn’t match the bank’s size and format requirements, our free Photo & Signature Resizer can crop, resize, and compress both to the exact prescribed specification, entirely in your browser.

Can final-year students apply?

Yes, with one condition. You can apply while your final result is still pending, but it has to be officially declared by 31.07.2026. If your university runs late and the result comes out after that date, you won’t be eligible for this particular cycle, even if you’ve already submitted your application and paid the fee.
