It recommends 1,715 candidates, 232 for Stenographer Grade C and 1,483 for Grade D, after a sliding and identity verification round held on 11.08.2026 and 12.08.2026. Earlier lists from June and July were tentative allocations, not the final result, and the ranks in them have been replaced.
Anyone allocated to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs has one live deadline: CBIC has asked its nominated Stenographers to submit zone and formation preferences online by 15.09.2026. A candidate who misses it is treated as having no preference.

We worked out the percentage row by dividing the number recommended by the number who sat the skill test. The write-up does not give this figure. It is the realistic chance for someone who reached that stage. The final round also changed one thing from June: the tentative allocation left 4 Grade C seats in the ST category empty for want of an eligible candidate, and the final result fills all 14.

The June list, still called the final result on many pages, was withheld the day after it appeared. The dates below are from the Commission’s own notice board.

Candidates who did not attend the sliding process in person were treated as absent and left out of the final result. Of the 1,715 in it, 1,055 chose to fix their allocation, 549 chose to float for a better one, and 111 seats were newly allocated in place of absentees.

Roll number missing from the final result
A roll number missing from this list means no allocation this cycle, and there is no waiting list to move up from. It can happen for two different reasons. A candidate who was in the June or July tentative list but skipped the in-person sliding round on 11 or 12 August was marked absent and dropped. A candidate who was never in a tentative list did not reach the cut for their category and preference. The next chance is the Stenographer Grade C and D Examination 2026, whose revised dates SSC announced in a notice of 31.08.2026.
