North Central Railway has opened RRC Prayagraj Apprentice 2026 applications for 1,853 trade apprentice slots across the zone’s workshops and divisions. The window runs from 8 July to 7 August 2026. There is no exam: selection is a pure merit list from your Class 10 marks and ITI credentials. Last updated: 09.07.2026.

Railway apprenticeships are training engagements under the Apprentices Act, not jobs. You train for a year at railway establishments, earn a monthly stipend, and finish with an NCVT certificate plus the kind of railway workshop experience that counts when RRC/RRB later gives ex-apprentice quota or preference in Level-1 recruitments. That last part is why these fill up fast.

• Class 10 passed with at least 50 percent marks.
• ITI certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in the relevant trade: fitter, electrician, welder, machinist, carpenter and other notified trades.
• Age 15 to 24 years as on 7 July 2026, with standard relaxations (OBC +3, SC/ST +5).

How selection works

No written test, no interview. The merit list is prepared on the average of your Class 10 percentage and ITI marks. Tie-breaks go to the older candidate. After the provisional merit list, shortlisted candidates get called for document verification and medical fitness at the assigned unit. Because it is marks-only, your application data must exactly match your certificates; a typo in the percentage field is the most common rejection reason.

How to apply

1. Open the application portal at examerp.com (the portal named in the RRC Prayagraj notification).
2. Register with your email and mobile, then select the RRC Prayagraj Apprentice 2026 advertisement.
3. Fill in Class 10 and ITI details with exact percentages, choose your trade and preferred unit.
4. Upload photo, signature and certificates, pay ₹100 if applicable, and submit.
5. Print the form. DV happens months later and you will forget the details; the printout saves you.

After the apprenticeship

Ex-act apprentices get reserved consideration in Railway Level-1 recruitments, and the recent RRB Group D 2026 (22,195 posts) cycle showed how much that matters: course-completed act apprentices had a dedicated quota. If you are 20-something with an ITI, apprenticeship now plus Group D attempt later is the standard two-step into railways. For diploma/degree holders, the RRB Technician CEN 02/2026 (6,565 posts) window is also open till 29 July.
