RRB Isolated Categories Vacancy 2026
The 311 posts split across eight specialised, low-vacancy-count categories — “isolated” because each is a standalone functional role rather than part of a larger recruitment family like Technician or ALP:
- Chief Law Assistant — Level 7, legal department roles
- Public Prosecutor — Level 7, the largest category by vacancy count
- Junior Translator (Hindi) — Level 6, official language translation
- Senior Publicity Inspector — Level 6, public relations and publicity
- Staff and Welfare Inspector — Level 6, employee welfare
- Scientific Assistant (Training) — Level 6, training department
- Lab Assistant Gr. III (Chemist & Metallurgist) — Level 2, technical laboratory role
- Scientific Supervisor / Ergonomics and Training — Level 7, ergonomics and training
RRB-wise and zone-wise vacancy distribution for each category is in Annexure B of the notification — you compete only within the RRB zone you selected while applying.
RRB Isolated Categories Eligibility 2026
Educational qualification is specific to each of the eight categories — Public Prosecutor requires a law degree with relevant litigation experience, Junior Translator (Hindi) requires a postgraduate qualification with Hindi/English translation credentials, Lab Assistant requires a Chemistry/Metallurgy background, and so on. Check Annexure A of the notification PDF for your specific post’s exact requirement.
Age limit (as on 01.01.2026) also varies by post — ranging from 18-30 years for some technical posts up to 18-40 years for Chief Law Assistant, with standard RRB age relaxation by category on top of the base range.
RRB Isolated Categories Application Fee 2026
General candidates paid Rs. 500, with Rs. 400 refunded after appearing in the CBT. SC, ST, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Ex-Servicemen, Minority and EBC candidates paid Rs. 250, fully refunded after CBT attendance. Only candidates who actually sit the exam get the refund — skip it and the fee is forfeited.
RRB Isolated Categories Selection Process 2026
- Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) — RRB reserves the right to run this as single or multi-shift
- Translation Test — where applicable to the specific post (e.g. Junior Translator Hindi); shortlisted at 10 times the vacancies by CBT merit
- Document Verification — based on CBT merit, RRB-wise
- Medical Examination
Negative marking on the CBT is 1/3 mark per wrong answer. Because these are eight functionally different posts, exact CBT question composition varies by category — check the post-specific parameters in Annexure A rather than assuming a single uniform pattern across all eight roles.
