The PM Awas Yojana Gramin 2026 (PMAY-G) provides financial assistance of ₹1.2 lakh (plains) or ₹1.3 lakh (hilly and difficult areas) to rural families for constructing a pucca house. What is PM Awas Yojana Gramin
PMAY-G replaced the old Indira Awaas Yojana in 2016 with better funding, oversight, and technology-backed monitoring. Beneficiaries are selected from the SECC-2011 database and the Awaas+ survey. The money is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account in installments as construction progresses, monitored through geotagged photos.

Note: The beneficiary list is on the official PMAY-G portal. PMAY Urban 2.0 gives up to Rs 1.80 lakh home loan subsidy for EWS, LIG and MIG. DDA Nagrik Awaas had a 31.08.2026 deadline. Karmayogi Awaas is the government-employee route.
Where the scheme has actually reached
The Ministry of Rural Development placed the numbers before the Lok Sabha on 21.07.2026, with cumulative progress taken as on 16.07.2026, and they say more about your chances than any general description of the scheme. Against a target of 4,17,83,017 houses, 3,91,78,533 have been sanctioned and 3,10,33,500 completed, with 1,07,49,517 under construction. Two things follow from that arithmetic: about 26.04 lakh houses of the target are still not sanctioned to anyone, which is the pool a new applicant is competing for, and of the houses already sanctioned roughly 81.45 lakh are still not finished, so a sanctioned name on the list is not the same as a completed house. The same reply records ₹1,34,242.45 crore of central share released over the five years from 2021-22 to 2025-26.

Note: In round figures: about 4.18 crore targeted, 3.92 crore sanctioned and 3.10 crore completed. The 79% is of houses sanctioned. The unsanctioned gap is the room left for new names. The unfinished houses are why instalments and geo-tagging matter after selection. Telangana stayed out during the 2016-2024 phase.
Eligibility
- Rural household without a pucca house
- Name should appear in SECC-2011 data or Awaas+ survey
- Priority to SC/ST households, freed bonded labourers, families with disabled members, minorities, and widows
- Should not have benefited from any other central or state housing scheme previously

Applying if your name is not in the list
PMAY-G does not have a direct public application form. Selection is based on SECC-2011 data and the Awaas+ survey. If you believe you are eligible but not listed, contact your Gram Panchayat or Block Development Officer. The Awaas+ survey is the mechanism to add new eligible households.
