What is PM Awas Yojana Gramin
PMAY-G replaced the old Indira Awaas Yojana in 2016 with better funding, oversight, and technology-backed monitoring. Beneficiaries are selected from the SECC-2011 database and the Awaas+ survey. The money is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account in installments as construction progresses — monitored through geotagged photos.
Key Benefits
- ₹1.2 lakh (plains) or ₹1.3 lakh (hills and northeast) for house construction
- 90 days of MNREGA labour wages for unskilled work during construction
- Toilets built under Swachh Bharat Mission at no extra cost
- LPG connection under PM Ujjwala Yojana
- Electricity connection under Saubhagya scheme
- Direct benefit transfer — money goes to bank account in 3 installments
