Goa’s Laadli Laxmi Scheme has been running since 6 July 2012, and it’s structured a little differently from most girl-child schemes — the payout depends on whether you’re claiming it as an unmarried adult or as a married beneficiary, and it’s built around a bank fixed deposit rather than staged cash installments through school life. Here’s the complete picture. Last updated: 10.07.2026.

DetailInfo
Official nameLaadli Laxmi Scheme, Goa
Run byDirectorate of Women & Child Development, Government of Goa
Launch date6 July 2012
Budget provision₹150 crore for the current financial year

Two payout tracks — which one applies to you

Unmarried girls turning 18 on or after 1 April 2012: ₹1,00,000 is placed in a bank Fixed Deposit, jointly held by the Director of DoWCD and the applicant. The FD auto-renews annually with interest and stays that way until you claim it or turn 45, whichever comes first. This means the longer it sits unclaimed within that window, the more it can grow with accrued interest — though the ₹1,00,000 principal is the guaranteed base figure.

Married beneficiaries aged 19–45, born before 1 April 2012: a one-time cash assistance of ₹1,00,000, paid directly rather than through the FD structure.

Some secondary sources describe the instrument as an NSC (National Savings Certificate) rather than a bank FD — official state sources point to the FD structure, but if you’re finalising paperwork, confirm the exact instrument type with your District Office at the time of application since terminology has varied across informal write-ups.

Who is eligible

  • Born in Goa.
  • Resident of Goa for the last 15 years continuously.
  • At least one parent must either be born in Goa AND resident there for 15+ years, OR resident in Goa for 25+ years regardless of birthplace.
  • If the girl was born outside Goa: she must still be a Goa resident for 15 years, educated in Goa, and the same parent-residency condition above must be met.
  • Family annual income must not exceed ₹3,00,000.

How to apply

This is an offline-only scheme — there is no online application portal. The form is available at the District Office of the Directorate of Women and Child Development.

  1. Visit your District DoWCD Office and collect the Laadli Laxmi application form.
  2. Fill in the applicant’s and parents’ details completely, matching your certificates exactly.
  3. Attach all required documents (listed below).
  4. Submit at the same District Office and retain your acknowledgement/receipt.
  5. The FD (or cash assistance, depending on your track) is processed after verification.

Documents required

  • Girl’s birth certificate
  • Passport-size photograph
  • Aadhaar card
  • Marriage certificate (only for the married-beneficiary track)
  • Parent’s residence certificate
  • Parent’s birth certificate
  • Self-declaration form
  • Income certificate (family income below ₹3 lakh)
  • Bank account details

Claiming the FD at maturity or age 45

Unmarried beneficiaries can claim the matured FD any time up to age 45. Once claimed, or once 45 is reached (whichever happens first), the scheme’s obligation is considered fulfilled. If your circumstances change from unmarried to married before you claim, check with the District Office on how that affects your specific FD status — the two tracks have different payout mechanics, and clarifying this in person avoids surprises at claim time.

Since this is an offline, document-heavy process with no online tracking, keep photocopies of everything you submit and get a dated acknowledgement from the District Office — it’s the only proof you’ll have while the application is processed.
