SSC CGL 2026 exam city details are live and the vacancy count has dropped. Tier-1 runs from 30.09.2026 to 30.10.2026 under the notice of 12.09.2026, and a further notice of 21.09.2026 opened the examination city in the login module at ssc.gov.in. The Admission Certificate follows two or three days before each candidate’s own exam date, not on one common day, so a 30 September paper and a 30 October paper will not get their cards together. Separately, the Commission’s tentative vacancy list of 24.09.2026 totals 10,731 posts, about 1,525 fewer than the roughly 12,256 this page and most listings had been carrying. Tier-2 is still pencilled in for December. Checked against the Commission’s own notice board on 26.09.2026.

One thing to keep separate while searching: the 2025 cycle is the one currently producing results. SSC declared the CGLE 2025 final result on 14.05.2026, uploaded the Tier-II final answer keys and marks on 17.06.2026, and CBIC and the Comptroller and Auditor General have been calling post preferences from selected candidates through May and into September 2026. A search for an SSC CGL result today usually lands on that cycle, not this one.

Note: The vacancy figure has fallen. The Commission’s tentative vacancy list of 24.09.2026 totals 10731 posts, about 1525 fewer than the figure this page and most others still carry, and the five category columns add to exactly that total, so the arithmetic checks. The list itself warns that final vacancies may vary from the tentative ones, and it notes that state-wise and zone-wise vacancies are not collected by the Commission at all, so any state-wise break-up circulating for this exam does not come from SSC.

Note: This page said the city slip was not released as on 21.09.2026. It went live that very day. The Commission’s notice of 21.09.2026 says candidates can view their examination city by logging in at ssc.gov.in, and puts the Admission Certificate two or three days before each candidate’s own date rather than on one common day, which is why a 30.09.2026 paper and a 30.10.2026 paper will not get their cards together. One trap sits in the same notice: anyone using the Own Scribe facility may have to register the scribe afresh, because registrations made before 05.11.2025 were disposed off and the process is now tied to Aadhaar. In 2025 the city slip came 9 days before Tier 1 began, on 03.09.2025 for a 12.09.2025 start, and this page used that 2-3 day pattern to put the card at about 27-28.09.2026. The Commission has now confirmed the 2 or 3 day rule itself.

Note: The login is the one link that matters this week, because the examination city is already behind it and the Admission Certificate follows two or three days before each date. The vacancy PDF is about 5 MB and runs to a table per ministry across 2 sections, ending in the total row. Applications for this cycle closed on 25.06.2026 and the same login is used throughout. The 12.09.2026 notice remains the only document carrying the 30.09.2026 to 30.10.2026 Tier 1 window, and it was read here on 20.09.2026 and again on 26.09.2026.

Downloading admit card (when released)

Your admit card date depends on your own shift, not on the first day of Tier 1. Last cycle SSC showed candidates their exam city first and released each admit card only two or three days before that candidate’s paper, so someone with a late-October slot should not expect a card in September. The 2025 Tier 1 also gives a sense of scale: 28,14,604 registered candidates across 260 centres in 129 cities. SSC said 93 percent got one of their first three city choices, and the rest were placed about 168 km from their application address on average.

  1. Open the SSC login page listed in the Important Links table (ssc.gov.in/login)
  2. Sign in with your registration number and password
  3. Check your exam city first. The admit card with centre and shift follows two or three days before your date
  4. Download the PDF, print two copies and carry the photo ID it asks for

Checking result (when declared)

  1. Open the Commission’s website, linked in the Important Links table above
  2. Click on the SSC CGL 2026 Tier 1 result link
  3. Enter your registration number and date of birth
  4. Download and save your scorecard PDF

After the result

SSC shortlists 15 to 25 times the vacancy count from Tier 1 for Tier 2, depending on the post. Those candidates then appear in Tier 2 (Paper I mandatory; Paper II for JSO; Paper III for Statistical Investigator). Your final merit rank comes from Tier 2 marks only. After Tier 2 results, SSC calls candidates for Document Verification and then posts are allocated based on merit and preference.

Qualifying marks vs cut off

SSC does not publish a separate minimum qualifying mark for Tier 1, the cut off itself is the qualifying mark. For context, the raw minimum to have your paper evaluated is approximately 40 marks out of 200 (20%). But the actual cut off to reach Tier 2 shortlist is typically 150+ for General. Planning for a Tier 1 score of 155+ gives you a safe buffer in the General category.
