RRB Technician CEN 02/2026 is the Railway Recruitment Board’s notification for 6,557 Technician posts, 323 for Technician Grade I Signal and 6,234 spread across 24 trades under Technician Grade III. Applications ran from 30.06.2026 to 29.07.2026 at rrbapply.gov.in, the same portal used for RRB ALP, and are closed. The computer based test is scheduled for 06.10.2026 to 09.10.2026, and the board calls that schedule tentative. The exam city slip has not opened as on 26.09.2026, though a ten day lead before a 6 October paper would have put it around now. This page tracks the rest of the cycle: exam city, e-call letter, pattern, selection and salary. Last updated: 26.09.2026.

Note: The city slip is the row that has moved. A 10 day lead before a 06.10.2026 paper would have opened it around today, and the board has not. Its document list for CEN 02/2026 holds four items and no more, the tentative schedule and the application status notice of 10.09.2026 and the notification and FAQ of 30.06.2026, with no City Intimation or E-Call Letter entry filed under this CEN. This page earlier put the admit card at around 02.10.2026 on that same arithmetic, and neither step has opened. Both will appear in the candidate login, and SC and ST candidates collect their travel authority from the same city slip link.

The exam city is published about 10 days before the exam and the e-call letter about 4 days before, both inside the candidate login, and the admit card page carries the download steps.
rrbapply.gov.in login
The application runs through the same rrbapply.gov.in account system as every other current RRB CEN. New candidates create an account with mobile and email (both OTP-verified); candidates who already have an account from ALP or another CEN log in and start a fresh application for Technician under their existing profile. Note: a separate application and separate fee is required for each pay level, so a candidate applying for both Grade I Signal and a Grade III trade submits two applications. Full login and status-check steps mirror our rrbapply.gov.in login guide written for ALP, the portal mechanics are identical.

Refunds go to the bank account linked with your Aadhaar, credited after attendance is reconciled post-exam. A separate fee applies for each pay level if you apply to both Grade I Signal and Grade III.

Admit card
Not released yet as on 11.09.2026. RRB has scheduled the CBT from 06.10.2026 to 09.10.2026. The exam city and date intimation, with travel authority for SC and ST candidates, is due about 10 days before the exam, and the e-call letter 4 days before, both on the RRB websites. This page and the dedicated RRB Technician admit card download guide get updated the same day the link goes live. After the exam, results and the cut off analysis are tracked on the RRB Technician result page and the cut off page.
Running from the same portal: RRB ALP CEN 01/2026, for candidates weighing both options.
Applying online
- Register or log in at rrbapply.gov.in with mobile and email, both OTP-verified
- Choose the pay level you’re applying for, Grade I Signal or a Grade III trade, and fill education details accordingly; the trade you select drives your CBT syllabus
- Choose an RRB zone; you compete only within it
- Complete photo and signature upload/capture as specified on the portal
- Pay the applicable fee (Rs. 500 or Rs. 250) by UPI, card or net banking
- Download the confirmation page for later reference at DV
Applying for both Grade I Signal and a Grade III trade means repeating this process twice, with two separate fee payments, RRB treats them as fully independent applications.
Technician or ALP, which suits you
Both run on the same rrbapply.gov.in portal and both accept ITI-qualified candidates for several trades, but they differ in what the job actually demands. ALP requires the strict A-1 medical standard (6/6 vision without glasses) and involves night-shift running duty with a longer, four-stage selection (CBT 1, CBT 2, CBAT, DV, Medical). Technician Grade III asks for a single CBT and generally more lenient medical standards (B-1/C-1 for most trades), with fixed-location workshop or maintenance duty rather than footplate running. Candidates who don’t clear ALP’s vision bar routinely qualify for Technician. See our full RRB ALP CEN 01/2026 pillar page for the comparison from the ALP side, and consider keeping both applications alive if your eligibility spans both.

The full grade-wise syllabus and CBT pattern with a free mock test is on our RRB Technician syllabus page.
Qualifying marks vs cut off
RRB’s minimum qualifying marks are 35% for General, 30% for OBC, 25% for SC/ST. These are just the minimum to have your answer sheet counted. The actual cut off to make the Stage 2 shortlist is always 15 to 30 marks above these thresholds. For Grade 3, a General category candidate targeting Stage 2 should aim for 62 to 65 marks minimum, not just the 35% floor.
