UPTET 2026 Complete Exam Syllabus – Teacher Eligibility Test

The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) to certify teaching eligibility for primary and junior-level positions in government schools. The test comprises two separate papers designed for different educational stages with corresponding curriculum depth.

• Child Development & Pedagogy (30 marks): Concept of development and growth, developmental stages (physical, cognitive, social-emotional), learning theories (Piaget, Vygotsky, Bloom), motivation and reinforcement, learner diversity, inclusive education principles, classroom management strategies, assessment and evaluation methods for primary level
• Language I – Hindi (30 marks): Hindi grammar and syntax, reading comprehension from Hindi texts, vocabulary and word usage, sentences and punctuation, communication in Hindi, teaching methodology for Hindi language at primary level, language games and activities
• Language II – English (30 marks): English grammar (tenses, articles, prepositions), English comprehension and reading skills, vocabulary building, written expression basics, phonetics and pronunciation, English teaching methods for primary classes, EVS integration through English
• Mathematics (30 marks): Number system and whole numbers, place value and numeration, arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), fractions and decimals, geometry (basic shapes, angles, perimeter, area), measurement (length, mass, capacity, time), data handling and basic statistics, problem-solving using mathematical concepts
• Environmental Studies (30 marks): Living world (plants, animals, habitats, ecosystems), human body and health, food and nutrition, water and soil conservation, weather and climate, natural disasters, maps and directions, community and society, occupations and livelihoods, environmental protection

Paper 2 – Junior Level (Classes 6-8) Syllabus

• Child Development & Pedagogy (30 marks): Adolescent development and challenges, constructivist learning approach, critical thinking development, problem-solving methods, classroom assessment and evaluation, continuous comprehensive evaluation (CCE), remedial teaching strategies, addressing learning disorders, inclusive education implementation at junior level
• Language I – Hindi (30 marks): Advanced Hindi grammar and literary analysis, comprehension of narrative and expository texts, essay writing and creative composition, Hindi vocabulary and idiomatic usage, literature and culture, Hindi pedagogy for junior classes, assessment of language skills
• Language II – English (30 marks): Advanced English grammar (complex structures, active-passive voice), reading comprehension of literary texts, writing skills (essays, letters, reports), vocabulary and word formation, literature appreciation, English teaching methods for junior classes, evaluation strategies
• Mathematics & Science (60 marks combined – Option A):
  • Mathematics: Rational numbers and integers, algebraic expressions and equations, geometry (triangles, circles, quadrilaterals, 3D shapes), trigonometry basics, statistics and probability, mensuration (surface area, volume), coordinate geometry, linear equations
  • Science: Cell biology and genetics, human physiology systems (digestive, respiratory, circulatory, nervous), chemistry basics (elements, compounds, reactions), physics (motion, force, energy, light, sound, electricity), earth sciences (rock cycle, weather, natural resources), ecology and evolution, human health and diseases
• Social Science (60 marks – Option B): Ancient India history and civilization, medieval India, modern India and freedom struggle, world geography and maps, political science (Indian Constitution, government structure), economics (production, distribution, consumption), sociology (social organization, culture), history of Uttar Pradesh

Language Medium Options

UPTET 2026 offers exams in multiple languages: Hindi, English, Urdu, and Sanskrit. Candidates select their preferred medium during application. This ensures accessibility across Uttar Pradesh’s linguistically diverse regions.

Preparation Strategy

Both papers place equal emphasis (20% each) on Child Development, and the two Language sections. For Paper 2, the combined Mathematics/Science or Social Science section carries double weightage (40%)—so subject selection should align with your strength. Child Development questions require understanding of pedagogical concepts rather than mere memorization. Language sections test both language competency and teaching methodology. Practice previous year papers extensively to familiarize yourself with question patterns, time management, and difficulty levels.
