UPPSC GIC Lecturer exam date and session timing
The examination is split across two days and two cities, and the second day applies only to two subjects, so read this against your own paper before planning travel.
| Exam schedule question | What the 21 August notice states |
|---|---|
| Main exam date and districts | 30 August 2026, in Lucknow and Prayagraj districts. |

| Timing of the two papers on 31 August | Psychology from 09:00 to 12:00 hrs and Criminology and Penology from 14:30 to 17:30 hrs, both conventional. |
Which subjects sit in which UPPSC GIC session
The subject list differs between the two sessions on 30 August, and that difference decides whether you sit one paper or two that day.
| Session question | Subjects covered |
|---|---|
| Subjects in the first session (15 subjects) | Sociology, Geography, Economics, Civics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, History, Biology, Hindi, Urdu and Sanskrit, plus Lecturer candidates and the Jail Training School Psychology and Criminology and Penology candidates. |

How to download the UPPSC GIC Lecturer Mains admit card
The Commission has moved to OTR-based downloads, so the login is your One Time Registration number rather than an application number.
- Open the Commission’s admit card download page linked in the Important Links section at the end of this article.
- Select the entry for Advt. No. A-6/E-1/2026, Lecturer (Male/Female) Government Inter College Mains Examination 2025.
- Enter your OTR number and open the admit card along with the instructions sheet.
- Download and print both, and check the examination centre, date and session printed on the card.
- Carry two photographs and your identity proof in original with a photocopy on the exam day.
Reporting time and what to carry to the exam centre
The entry rules are strict and the closing time is well before the paper starts, which is where most candidates get caught out.
| Exam day question | Rule stated in the notice |
|---|---|
| When does entry open | One hour and thirty minutes before the scheduled start of the examination. |
| When is entry closed | 45 minutes before the scheduled start. No candidate is admitted after that. |
| What must you carry | Two photographs and your identity proof in original together with a photocopy, both compulsory. |
| What is given to the invigilator | One photocopy of the identity proof must be handed over in the examination room. |
| Where is the admit card hosted | On https://uppsc.up.nic.in, downloaded through your OTR number along with the instructions. |
Provisional admission and the unfair means law
Two conditions in the notice carry real consequences, and both are easy to overlook in a schedule announcement.
| Condition | What the Commission has stated |
|---|---|
| Are candidates admitted provisionally | Yes. Permission to sit the Mains is provisional, on condition that the hard copy of the application is submitted by the prescribed date. |
| What if the hard copy is not submitted | If scrutiny shows the process was not completed by the prescribed date, the candidature will be cancelled. |
| Which unfair means law applies | The Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, UP Act No. 8 of 2024, published on 6 August 2024. |
| Which office issued this notice | Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, Prayagraj, letter no. 01(XIV)/01/DR(GIC MAINS-2025)/S-4/2026-27 dated 21.08.2026. |
| Can you request a different centre | The notice fixes the centres printed on the admit card and provides no route to change them. |
What to do if your UPPSC admit card is not available
A failed download at this stage is usually a login problem rather than a missing card, given the exam is only days away.
| Problem | Most likely explanation |
|---|---|
| The admit card is not available on login | Check that you are opening the entry for Advt. No. A-6/E-1/2026 specifically, since UPPSC hosts several advertisements on the same download page. |
| Your OTR number is not accepted | The download works on the One Time Registration number, not the application or roll number. Recover the OTR details from the Commission’s own OTR module. |
| Your name is not found in the Mains list | Only candidates declared qualified for the Mains under this advertisement receive an admit card for it. |
| You appear in Psychology or Criminology | Your paper is on 31 August at the Lucknow camp office, not on 30 August with the other subjects. |
| You have not sent the hard copy of the application | Complete it by the prescribed date. The notice states candidature will be cancelled if scrutiny finds it incomplete. |
