Checking UGC NET June 2026 Result

To open the scorecard (NTA lists this login under the re-exam):

1. Visit ugcnet.nta.nic.in
2. Open “UGC-NET June 2026 Score Card” in the candidate activity list
3. Log in with your Application Number and password, or date of birth
4. Your scorecard will appear – check both Paper 1 and Paper 2 marks
5. Download and save the scorecard for future use

What the scorecard will show

Qualifying marks

Qualifying the exam does not guarantee selection. The actual cut off for JRF and Assistant Professor is set separately based on the number of qualified candidates and available positions.

After the result

The result decides which of the three qualifying categories a candidate falls into, and each one carries a different entitlement and validity period.

Note: JRF is a fellowship for research at universities or institutes, valid for 3 years from the date of declaration. Assistant Professor eligibility lets a candidate apply for college and university faculty posts.

The official cut off, and what it says about your subject

NTA published subject and category wise cut-off marks on the same day as the result. It prints the table but no summary, so the spread below is calculated here from that PDF.

Note: Marks are out of 300. Arabic and Geography follow Persian at 250. Konkani follows Bodo and Kashmiri at 152. The median covers 82 subjects and the average gap 78 subjects, calculated here from NTA’s PDF, which gives no summary. English, Commerce and Sociology are not in this list. Their cut-off came separately on 17.09.2026, shown below.

Marks out of 300, read off the NTA cut-off PDF dated 17.09.2026. Against the 84-subject median of 212 for unreserved JRF, Sociology needed 20 marks more and English 14 more, while Commerce, at 210, came in just under it.

Qualifying marks vs actual cutoff

These are two different things and many candidates confuse them.

• Qualifying marks: The minimum you need to clear the exam: 40% (120 out of 300) for General/EWS, and 35% (105 out of 300) for reserved categories
• Actual cutoff for JRF/Assistant Professor: Set separately based on the number of qualifying candidates and available positions – typically much higher than the qualifying marks

Clearing the qualifying mark means you passed. Meeting the JRF or Assistant Professor cutoff means you are selected for that role.

Factors that affect UGC NET cutoff

• Number of applicants: More applicants in a subject usually means higher competition and higher cutoff
• Paper difficulty: An easier paper leads to higher average scores and a higher cutoff
• Number of JRF positions: Fewer fellowships available means a tighter cutoff
• Reservation policy: Each category has separate cutoffs as per government reservation norms
