These are state-wise averages. The actual cut off varies by state — states with fewer vacancies but more applicants (typically Delhi, Maharashtra, UP) tend to have cut offs 3 to 6 marks higher than the average. States with more vacancies tend to have cut offs at the lower end of the range.

Factors affecting the 2026 cut off
- 7,150 total vacancies is a good number, but 40 to 60 lakh graduates typically apply for SBI Apprentice. Competition is intense despite the vacancy count.
- No negative marking means more candidates will attempt all 100 questions, pushing average scores up. This naturally lifts the cut off slightly compared to exams with negative marking.
- The written test has a composite 60-minute window for all four sections. Candidates who have strong typing and calculation speed can answer all 100 questions comfortably. This tends to produce high scores, raising the cut off.
- State-wise competition varies widely. A Delhi or UP circle vacancy attracts far more applicants per seat than a North East circle vacancy. Plan accordingly when choosing your circle during application.
Qualifying marks vs cut off
SBI does not publish a fixed minimum qualifying mark for this exam. The cut off is purely merit-based — the top candidates in each state and category get shortlisted. Since there is no negative marking, your goal should be to maximize correct attempts rather than just clear a floor. For General category candidates targeting high-competition states, scoring below 65 makes shortlisting difficult. Aiming for 72+ gives you a comfortable buffer.
