RRB Technician CEN 02/2026 runs a single CBT per pay level, and the syllabus differs between Technician Grade I Signal and Technician Grade III. Both use the same 90-minute, 100-question, 1/3-negative-marking format, but the subject weightage is built around what each role actually needs on the job. Last updated: 12.07.2026.

What matters most for each group
Grade III candidates should start with General Science since it carries 40 of the 100 marks, the single biggest section by far. It’s straight 10th-standard NCERT-level Physics, Chemistry and Biology, so most candidates already have the base — the return on revising it properly is higher than any other section.
Grade I Signal candidates face a more technical paper. Basic Science & Engineering plus Basics of Computers & Applications together make up 55 of the 100 marks, so electronics fundamentals and core computing concepts deserve more prep time than general awareness.
Both papers penalize wrong answers at 1/3 mark, so accuracy on what you attempt matters more than attempting everything. RRB has confirmed these subject-wise breakdowns are indicative and the actual paper composition may vary slightly.
