RRB ALP 2026 Cut Off – previous year data and expected range
The official RRB ALP 2026 cut off will be published after Stage 1 and Stage 2 results are declared. Since the exam is still months away, this page uses the 2018 RRB ALP data (the last time this exam was held at a similar scale) to give you a realistic picture of what to expect in 2026. Last updated: 20.05.2026.
Previous year cut off – Stage 1 CBT (2018)
| Category | Cut off range (out of 75) |
|---|---|
| General / UR | 49 to 65 |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 44 to 60 |
| SC | 40 to 55 |
| ST | 35 to 50 |
| PwBD | 30 to 45 |
The range is wide because cut offs varied significantly by RRB zone. Zones with more vacancies had lower cut offs. Chennai and Mumbai RRB typically had the highest cut offs.
Expected cut off 2026 – Stage 1
| Category | Expected range (out of 75) |
|---|---|
| General / UR | 52 to 66 |
| OBC (NCL) | 46 to 60 |
| SC | 40 to 55 |
| ST | 35 to 50 |
Factors that affect the cut off
- 11,127 total vacancies is a large number. More seats usually mean slightly lower cut offs compared to cycles where only 2,000 to 3,000 posts were on offer.
- Applicant count is expected to be 50 to 70 lakh. That is extremely high competition, which pushes the cut off up despite the large vacancy count.
- RRB normalizes marks across multiple shifts before publishing results. Your final score can differ from your raw score, sometimes by 3 to 5 marks.
- Zone-wise variation will remain significant. If you are in a high-demand zone, expect cut offs 5 to 8 marks above the all-India average.
Qualifying marks vs cut off
RRB sets minimum qualifying marks separately: 35% for General, 30% for OBC, 25% for SC/ST. These are just the floor — you need to clear them to have your paper evaluated. But the actual cut off to make the Stage 2 shortlist is always 15 to 35 marks higher than these minimums. If you are targeting Stage 2, aiming for 55+ (General) or 45+ (OBC) in Stage 1 is a safer goal than just hitting the qualifying threshold.
