Eligibility

You need a master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 55 percent marks from a recognised university. Reserved category candidates get the usual 5 percent relaxation, so 50 percent works for SC, ST and PwD applicants. Candidates appearing in their final year of post-graduation can also apply, but they must complete the degree within the timeline given in the notification. There is no upper age limit for SET, it is an eligibility test, not a job recruitment.

Subjects covered

Rajasthan SET 2026 is being held in 21 subjects: Chemical Sciences, Commerce, Computer Science, Earth Science, Economics, Education, English, Environmental Science, Geography, Hindi, History, Law, Life Science, Management, Mathematical Science, Music, Philosophy, Physical Education, Physical Science, Psychology and Public Administration. You appear only in your post-graduation subject.

Exam pattern

The test follows the UGC NET structure. Paper I has 50 questions on teaching aptitude, research methodology, reasoning, comprehension and general awareness, worth 100 marks. Paper II has 100 questions from your subject, worth 200 marks. Both papers run in a single three-hour session with no negative marking. Qualifying follows the NET-style system: general candidates need 40 percent aggregate and reserved categories need 35 percent, after which only the top slice of candidates (roughly 6 percent) actually receives the SET certificate.

How to apply

1. Log in at sso.rajasthan.gov.in with your SSO ID.
2. Find the Rajasthan SET 2026 link under Recruitment and open the University of Kota application form.
3. Select your subject and exam city carefully. Subject cannot be changed after submission.
4. Upload photo, signature and PG marksheet, pay the category-wise fee, and submit.
5. Save the application PDF for the admit card stage in early September.

Why SET matters right now

Rajasthan has been running large college-level recruitment through RPSC Assistant Professor advertisements, and SET or NET is the mandatory eligibility for those. If you missed the June UGC NET cycle or your subject went badly, this state-level attempt in September keeps you in the game for upcoming RPSC Assistant Professor openings. A SET certificate is valid for Rajasthan lifetime, same as NET for the whole country.
