Karnataka Yuva Nidhi 2026 is an unemployment allowance, not a scholarship. It pays ₹3,000 a month to unemployed graduates and ₹1,500 a month to diploma holders for up to two years. What is Yuva Nidhi scheme in Karnataka

Yuva Nidhi, often typed as yuvanidhi in one word, is one of the Karnataka Government guarantee schemes. A lot of searches call it a scholarship, which it is not. It is a monthly unemployment allowance paid to young people who have finished a degree or diploma and have not yet found work.

It is paid only after studies end, and anyone still studying is excluded, which is why it is not a scholarship. The full department name is Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood. The official portal uses the one-word spelling. The applicant must hold Karnataka domicile.

The distinction matters in practice, not just in wording. Because this is an allowance for the unemployed rather than support for studying, enrolling in a further course does not strengthen a claim; it ends it. Candidates who are pursuing studies are excluded outright, so anyone weighing another degree against the monthly payment should understand that the two cannot run together.

Unlike several other state schemes that open a short application window and then close it, this one runs continuously because eligibility is tied to your passing year. That is the single most useful thing to know before you start.

Note: Checked on 20 August 2026: the Karnataka Guarantee Schemes portal carries a live Yuvanidhi link into the Seva Sindhu service. The scheme is open on a rolling basis to candidates whose passing year is covered, while they remain unemployed.

Yuva Nidhi eligibility, which passing year qualifies

This is where most confusion sits. The qualifying test is your course completion year and your employment status, and the Skill Development Department page does not impose an age bar or a family income ceiling.

Note: The passing year means completing graduation or a diploma. The department scheme page states no age or family income limit and does not list employment-exchange registration. Eligibility turns on passing year and employment status. The allowance runs for two years from its start or until you find work, whichever comes first.

If you have read elsewhere that the allowance requires you to be between 18 and 25, or that your family income must be under a set figure, check that against the department page before assuming you are disqualified. Those conditions do not appear in the official scheme description.

One practical consequence of the passing-year rule is worth spelling out. Because the covered years move forward, a candidate who was too early to qualify under an older description may now fall inside the covered range, and someone who delayed applying may find their year still listed. Check the current department page rather than relying on an older article, since this is the field the application actually validates against.

Who is excluded from the scheme

The exclusions are short and specific, and each one is about your current status rather than your background.

Note: Employment covers government aided undertakings and the private sector. Self-employed includes running your own work rather than drawing a salary. The allowance stops as soon as you are employed, inside the two-year period or at its end.

The rate depends on your qualification level, not on your marks, caste or income. Payment reaches you by direct benefit transfer into your own bank account.

Applying on Seva Sindhu

The application is submitted online. Every link mentioned here is listed in the Important Links section above.

1. Open the Karnataka Guarantee Schemes portal and choose the Yuvanidhi application link, which opens the Seva Sindhu service for this scheme.
2. Register or log in with your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and complete the one-time verification.
3. Enter your course details, including the year in which you completed your degree or diploma, since this is the field that decides eligibility.
4. Give the self-declaration that you are currently unemployed and are not pursuing further studies.
5. Enter the bank account that should receive the monthly transfer, and confirm it is active and in your own name.
6. Submit the application and keep the acknowledgement number, which is what you will need to track the status later.

Status check and application tracking

Status tracking is on the main Seva Sindhu site rather than on the guarantee schemes landing page, which is why many applicants cannot find it.

Note: Keep the acknowledgement number from your submission saved rather than relying on the SMS. Applications pass through departmental verification, so a pending state soon after submission is expected.

Payment not received, common reasons

A missing monthly credit is usually one of a small number of causes. Work through them in order before filing a complaint.

Note: Check the status page first, because the application may still be in departmental verification. Confirm account status with your bank. Taking up private work or becoming self-employed also counts as employed.

Keep a record of each monthly declaration you submit and the date you submitted it. Where a payment is queried later, the declaration history is the fastest way to show that the requirement was met on time, and it saves the applicant from having to reconstruct the sequence from memory.
