This section carries 40 questions and should be prepared first. The expected syllabus area includes reading comprehension, grammar, sentence correction, word usage, synonyms, antonyms, idioms, one-word substitution, official terminology and practical writing awareness. Since Moharir work is record-oriented, candidates should also understand applications, notices, letters, reports, file noting style, simple official Hindi and clear expression. Objective questions may not ask candidates to write a long answer, but they can test format, correct phrase, grammatical accuracy and comprehension of a given passage.

For scoring, divide Hindi into four notebooks: grammar rules, vocabulary, comprehension practice and official-writing formats. Grammar should include sandhi, samas, karak, vachya, vakya shuddhi, shabd shuddhi, upsarg, pratyay, muhavare and lokokti. Comprehension practice should be timed because many candidates lose marks by reading slowly. For official writing, learn the difference between patra, prarthana patra, suchna, prativedan, karyalaya aadesh and simple file language. General intelligence test syllabus

The reasoning section has 20 questions. Prepare analogy, classification, coding-decoding, series, blood relation, direction test, order and ranking, calendar, clock, syllogism, Venn diagram, statement-conclusion, figure-based reasoning and simple puzzles. This section is small but highly scoring. The safest strategy is daily mixed practice of 25 to 30 questions, followed by mistake analysis. If a reasoning topic repeatedly takes more than one minute, shift it to weekend revision and first build speed in series, analogy, direction, coding and classification.

Reasoning should not be solved only by memorized tricks. UPSSSC papers often reward careful reading of the question. Train yourself to underline relation words, directions, sequence conditions and negative words such as “not”, “except” and “only”. In a 20-question section, avoid getting stuck on one puzzle. Mark it for review, finish the quick questions and return later if time remains. A good practical target is 16 to 18 serious attempts with 85 percent plus accuracy.

General knowledge syllabus

The GK section has 20 questions and should be treated as a broad but controlled section. Read Indian history, geography, polity, economy, science, environment, current affairs, Uttar Pradesh GK and basic knowledge of the mining and geology context. Since the post is linked with the Geology and Mining Department, candidates should know common minerals, mining terms, environmental protection basics, government departments, district-level administration and current UP schemes. However, do not create an extra technical syllabus beyond the official scope. Keep geology and mining awareness at a basic administrative level.

In vocabulary, prepare paryayvachi, vilom, anekarthak shabd, shabd shuddhi, muhavare and lokoktiyan. For reasoning, begin with short topics: analogy, classification, number series, alphabet series, coding-decoding, direction, blood relation, order and ranking. After these, move to syllogism, Venn diagram, statement-conclusion and small puzzles. Keep one separate page for formulas and patterns, such as direction turns, calendar odd days and alphabetical positions. Speed improves when these basics become automatic.

For GK, prepare Indian Constitution basics, important articles, fundamental rights, directive principles, Parliament, state government, district administration, history of modern India, geography of India and Uttar Pradesh, major crops, minerals, rivers, environment, basic science and current affairs. Mock test approach and cutoff awareness

Full-length practice is necessary because the paper looks short but can become tricky through Hindi passages and reasoning puzzles. Attempt one 80-question mock every Sunday. After the mock, do not only see the score; record section-wise time, wrong answers, doubtful attempts and questions left. If Hindi takes too much time, practice passages with a 6-minute limit. If reasoning accuracy is low, reduce mixed practice and return to topic-wise drills. If GK is weak, revise fewer sources more often.

Cutoff cannot be predicted safely before the exam because it depends on difficulty, attendance, category and any rule issued by the commission. A serious candidate should not prepare for the minimum possible cutoff. Instead, target a score that leaves margin even if the paper is easy. For Moharir, this means Hindi accuracy above 80 percent, reasoning above 75 percent and GK above 65 percent. These are preparation targets, not official cutoffs.

Before the final exam week, solve at least three papers in the exact 2-hour window. Keep the first 55 to 60 minutes for Hindi, 25 to 30 minutes for reasoning, 20 to 25 minutes for GK and the remaining time for review.
