Note: The corrigendum cuts DSP posts from 22 to 20 and carries the revised category table and the 1,187 total. The 12.10.2026 notice is the latest word on the exam date, and the next revised date will appear on the examination notices page.

After the revised BPSC exam date

The admit card is expected only after the Commission publishes a revised schedule or a related hall-ticket notice. The following points describe the decision path without assuming an unannounced date.

Note: Until the revised date comes, watch the BPSC notice board and candidate portal for a dated notice. Once it is announced, look for the 72nd CCE Preliminary e-admit card notice. When the hall ticket is live, download it from the official login and check your name, roll number, centre and reporting instructions.

Prelims, General Studies (qualifying only)

BPSC 72nd prelims patternOfficial record
Total marksThe General Studies paper carries 150 marks.
DurationYou get 2 hours.
Negative marking1/3 mark is cut for each wrong answer.
Answer optionsOptions A to D, plus E for Not Attempted.

The Option E change: BPSC has added a fifth OMR option specifically for “Not Attempted.” Mark it deliberately when skipping a question and there’s no penalty. But leave the row completely blank, with no option marked at all, and it now costs the same 1/3 negative mark as an outright wrong answer. Previous BPSC cycles didn’t penalise blank rows this way. Practically, this means you need to fill in a bubble for every single question on your OMR sheet, either your answer or Option E, with zero rows left untouched.

Prelims covers general studies: current affairs (national and Bihar-specific), Indian history and Bihar’s history, Indian and Bihar geography, Indian polity and economy, general science, and general mental ability.

Mains, Five Papers

PaperMarksCounts toward merit?
General Hindi100No, qualifying only
General Studies Paper 1300Yes
General Studies Paper 2300Yes
Essay300Yes
Optional Subject100No, qualifying only

General Hindi and the Optional Subject are pass/fail gates. Clear their qualifying cutoff and stop worrying about them. The 900 marks across GS Paper 1, GS Paper 2 and Essay are what actually build your merit rank, together with the Interview.

Interview, 120 Marks

Candidates who clear the Mains cutoff sit a Personality Test worth 120 marks. Combined with GS Paper 1 (300), GS Paper 2 (300) and Essay (300), the interview brings the final merit total to 1,020 marks.

Paper timing and admit card link

The Prelims was set as a two-hour paper from 12:00 noon to 02:00 PM on 26.07.2026 before the first postponement. The 12.10.2026 notice gives no timing, since it only cancels the 25.10.2026 sitting. The admit card will appear on the BPSC Online candidate dashboard once a new date is fixed.

There is no separate admit-card direct link yet. If a download link appears, it should come from the official BPSC Online portal, not from a third-party file server. The BPSC 72nd CCE 2026 admit card page will be updated with the direct hall-ticket link once BPSC releases it.

BPSC 72nd CCE 2026 Latest Update

The vacancy count has changed twice since the advertisement of 05.05.2026. A corrigendum of 06.05.2026 deleted 44 Sugarcane Officer posts, and a second of 03.09.2026 cut the Deputy Superintendent of Police posts from 22 to 20. BPSC now states the total as 1,187 posts. Applications closed on 31.05.2026. The Prelims set for 26.07.2026 were postponed by a notice of 20.07.2026. They were then fixed for 25.10.2026 and postponed again by a notice of 12.10.2026, with no new date as on 13.10.2026. The admit card will appear in the candidate login once a new date is fixed, and that login is in the Important Links section below.

Posts left after the corrigenda

A second corrigendum, dated 03.09.2026, revises the Deputy Superintendent of Police vacancies from 22 to 20 at the request of the Bihar Police Service, and states the total for the 72nd CCE as 1,187. The revised 20 split as 10 unreserved, 2 EWS, 1 SC, 1 ST, 5 extremely backward class and 1 backward class, with 6 of them reserved for women (4 unreserved and 2 extremely backward class). The post sits at Level-9 with a minimum age of 20.

The two corrigenda do not add up, and BPSC has not explained the gap. The 06.05.2026 notice prints its own sum, 1,230 minus 44 equals 1,186. Taking the 2 DSP posts off that gives 1,184, yet the 03.09.2026 notice states 1,187. That leaves 3 posts which no notice on the BPSC board accounts for, checked on 26.09.2026. Some sites put them down to added Excise posts, but no BPSC notice says so. Use 1,187, because it is the Commission’s most recent stated total.

The first cut came on 06.05.2026. That corrigendum removed the 44 Sugarcane Officer (ईख पदाधिकारी) vacancies of the Sugarcane Industry Department from Table-1 of the advertisement, because under the Bihar Sugarcane Development Rules those posts carry a different eligibility and a different examination pattern.

Vacancy countThe number and where it comes from
Posts advertised1,230 across all services in the advertisement of 05.05.2026.
First corrigendum06.05.2026 removed 44 Sugarcane Officer posts, serial 11 of Table-1.
Total after the first cut1,186, which that corrigendum prints as 1,230 minus 44.
Second corrigendum03.09.2026 cut DSP posts from 22 to 20 and states a total of 1,187.
Unexplained gap3 posts, since 1,186 minus 2 is 1,184 and no notice covers the difference.
Reason for the first cutThe rules place these posts with Assistant Director (Sugarcane Development), with a different exam.
Figure to use1,187, the total in the Commission’s most recent notice.
Reservation rosterOnly the Sugarcane Officer and DSP lines changed, and every other service stays as advertised.

Eligibility, qualification and age

Educational qualification: a Bachelor’s degree from a university recognised by the Government of India. Some specific posts require a particular stream or professional qualification, detailed post-wise in the notification.

Age limit (as on 01.08.2025): minimum age is post-specific, generally 21 to 22 years. The maximum age is 37 years for male candidates and 40 years for female candidates, with standard age relaxation for reserved categories under Bihar government rules.

BPSC 72nd CCE Application Fee 2026

Rs. 100 for all categories, General, BC, SC/ST and female Bihar-domicile candidates alike. Applications closed 31.05.2026, so this is reference information at this stage of the cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the BPSC 72nd CCE 2026 admit card out?

No. The Preliminary examination set for 26.07.2026 was postponed by the Commission on 20.07.2026 for unavoidable reasons, and no admit card exists as on 03.10.2026.

Has BPSC announced the revised Preliminary exam date?

Not as on 13.09.2026, which is 55 days after the postponement notice of 20.07.2026. The Commission said only that a fresh date would be given later.

When will the admit card be released?

Only after BPSC publishes a revised exam programme. In the original schedule the Prelims were fixed for 26.07.2026 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM, and the hall ticket is issued shortly before the exam date rather than months ahead.

Where will the BPSC 72nd CCE admit card be downloaded from?

From the BPSC Online candidate dashboard at bpsconline.bihar.gov.in, using the registration number issued at application. No separate direct admit-card link exists as on 13.09.2026.

Can the old 26.07.2026 admit card or exam date still be used?

No. The 26.07.2026 sitting was cancelled by the 20.07.2026 postponement notice, so any centre or reporting time tied to that date is void. A fresh admit card will be issued for the revised date.

What documents must be carried to the exam centre?

The binding list is the one printed on the released admit card, which for the 72nd CCE Prelims has not been issued as on 13.09.2026. BPSC normally requires the printed hall ticket plus an original photo identity document.
