Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme 2026 10 Kg Free Rice is how this benefit gets described everywhere, and for a priority household it is accurate. For an Antyodaya household it is not, because the central half of that entitlement is fixed per family. The scheme also pays cash by DBT when the rice is not distributed, and about 18 per cent of Karnataka ration cards are entitled to none of it. Figures here come from the department’s own live dashboard, read on 28.08.2026.
DBT status check and amount
The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department runs a public analytics dashboard, and it still carries a whole Annabhagya DBT section in 2026. That matters, because it shows cash transfer is a live part of the scheme rather than a closed chapter from 2023. The section is not a leftover page either. It is built to be queried month by month and district by district, with separate counts for cards that are eligible, cards that are eligible for payment, payments that succeeded and payments that failed. You do not keep that much machinery running for something you have stopped doing.

|---|---|
| DBT status check | The dashboard shows eligible cards, payment success, failures and totals. |
| Amount check | Select the specific month and district to see that month’s figures. |
| Anna Bhagya amount | Money is paid only when the extra rice cannot be given. |
| Payment failure | Failed payments are reported separately, so some fail every month. |

Amount not credited and payment status pending
Two quite different things get called the same problem here. Separating them decides who you need to talk to, and saves a wasted trip to the wrong office.
| Anna Bhagya amount not credited | Likely meaning |
|---|---|
| Amount not received | If rice was given that month, no cash was due. |
| Why not credited | A failed transfer is usually a bank or Aadhaar seeding problem. |
| Rice not collected | An uncollected month is marked not lifted, which triggers the cash route. |
| Money not received at all | An NPHH card gets neither rice nor money. |
| Complaint number | Card problems go to the helpline, failed credits to the bank. |
Anna Bhagya rice quantity
Almost every summary says ten kilograms per person and stops there. That is right for one card type and wrong for the other, because the central half of the entitlement is not calculated the same way for both.
The arithmetic is worth doing once. A three member priority household draws fifteen kilograms from the centre and fifteen from the state, thirty in all. A three member Antyodaya household draws a flat thirty five kilograms from the centre, so it starts ahead. Move to seven members and the position reverses, because the priority household scales to thirty five kilograms of central grain while the Antyodaya family is still capped at thirty five for everyone. This is why a blanket ten kilograms per person figure misleads in both directions, and why the card category matters more than the headline number.
| Anna Bhagya rice quantity | How it is worked out |
|---|---|
| Rice quantity | 5 kg per person from the centre plus 5 kg per person from the state. |
| AAY ration card | Antyodaya families get 35 kg per family per month under NFSA. |
| Rice per person | Small AAY families gain and large ones lose, as the central share is fixed. |
| Ration shop near me | Any fair price shop works under portability with biometrics. |
| Free rice | Both shares are free at the shop. |
Ration card eligibility and who gets nothing
The department’s dashboard breaks the state’s cards down by type, and the split answers the eligibility question far better than any description of card colours does. Colour is what people ask about, but the category printed on the card is what the entitlement actually turns on, and the two do not map onto each other cleanly enough to rely on. These are the counts as they stood on 28.08.2026.
| Karnataka ration card count | Department dashboard |
|---|---|
| Total ration cards | 1,53,22,056 cards across all categories. |
| AAY cards | 10,44,049 Antyodaya cards, entitled per family. |
| PHH cards | 1,14,44,696 priority household cards, entitled per person. |
| NPHH cards | 28,33,311 non-priority cards with no NFSA entitlement. |
| Cards left out | 1,24,88,745 are covered, leaving about 18.5 per cent outside. |
New ration card application status
This is where a stale page does real harm. The department has put out a notice specifically to stop people acting on the advice our own earlier version was giving.
| New ration card Karnataka | Department statement |
|---|---|
| New ration card | The department calls reports of new cards being issued false news. |
| Ration card status | Only applications received up to March 2023 are being processed. |
| New application | Filing a fresh application now runs against that notice. |
| Eligibility order | Ineligible holders are identified first, cards are issued after. |
| Anna Bhagya apply online | There is no form, the benefit attaches to an eligible card. |

Helpline number and complaint
The department publishes one toll free number in the footer of its own site. It is more reliable than the district numbers that circulate second hand.
| Anna Bhagya helpline number | Route to use |
|---|---|
| Toll free number | Call 1967, the Food Department helpline. |
| Complaint | The same line and an online route cover ration grievances. |
| Ration shop complaint | File it online as a public grievance. |
| Rice black market | Report diversion on the website, a reward is offered. |
| Amount not credited | Only your bank branch can fix a failed DBT credit. |
Checking status and collect rations
- Open the department site at its current address and use the citizen e-services section rather than a saved link to the old nic.in hostname.
- Check the card category first. If the card is NPHH, there is no Anna Bhagya entitlement to check and no transfer will ever appear.
- For a month where rice was collected at the shop, expect no cash. The transfer replaces undistributed rice rather than adding to it.
- For a month where rice was not distributed, use the department’s Annabhagya DBT analytics pages, selecting the specific month and district.
- If the record shows a failed payment, take the passbook and Aadhaar to the bank branch, because the correction is at the account end.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why has my Anna Bhagya amount not been credited?
If rice was distributed at your fair price shop that month, no cash was due; the transfer only replaces rice that was not given out. If a payment did fail, the fix is usually Aadhaar seeding at your bank branch.
Does an NPHH ration card get Anna Bhagya rice?
No. NPHH cards carry no NFSA entitlement, so they receive neither the free rice nor the transfer. On 28.08.2026 that was 28,33,311 of Karnataka's 1,53,22,056 cards.
Do AAY cardholders also get 10 kg per person?
No. Under the National Food Security Act an Antyodaya household gets 35 kg of foodgrains per family per month, a fixed quantity regardless of how many members the family has.
Why does ahara.kar.nic.in not open?
That hostname has been withdrawn and returns NXDOMAIN on independent DNS resolvers, checked 28.08.2026. The department now runs at ahara.karnataka.gov.in.
Can I apply for a new Karnataka ration card now?
The department has called reports of new cards being issued false news, and says it is processing only applications received up to March 2023. Check its current notices before filing.
What is the Anna Bhagya helpline number?
1967, the toll free line published by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs on its own website. It covers both distribution and ration card grievances.
