Ladki Bahin Yojana Maharashtra 2026 pays ₹1,500 a month by DBT to eligible women aged 21 to 65. New applicant registration is open on the official portal as on 20 August 2026, and the portal’s own counters show 1,12,70,261 applications received with 1,06,69,139 approved. The scheme is also written as Majhi Ladki Bahin or माझी लाडकी बहीण.
Application status as on 20 August 2026
The most common question is whether the form is still open. This was checked directly on the Maharashtra Government portal rather than taken from a news report.
| Ladki Bahin application status | Portal, 20.08.2026 |
|---|---|
| New registration | New registrations are open. |
| Last date | No last date is shown on the portal. |
| Applications received | 1,12,70,261 applications have been received. |
| Applications approved | 1,06,69,139 are approved, about 95%. |
| Department | Maharashtra’s Women and Child Development Department. |
| Scheme approved | The scheme was approved on 28 June 2024. |
Note: The sign-up page takes district, taluka, village and municipal body selection. The homepage offers applicant login and the sign-in page offers account creation. The counts are from the portal counter at the time of checking. The approval share is our division. The department is the Government of Maharashtra’s. The portal counters were read again on 29.09.2026 and show the same figures, 1,12,70,261 received and 1,06,69,139 approved, so they have not moved in 40 days.
Because the counters are published by the department and update as verification proceeds, they are a more reliable signal of whether the scheme is still processing applications than any secondary report.
The approval ratio is worth reading carefully. Roughly 95 per cent of applications recorded on the portal have been approved, which tells you that rejection is not the usual outcome. Where a payment does not arrive, the cause is far more often an incomplete bank or verification step on an approved application than a refusal of the claim itself.

Eligibility, age limit, income and who is covered
Eligibility is set out on the official portal in five conditions. The marital-status rule is wider than most people expect, and the single-unmarried-woman limit is the part that is most often missed.
| Ladki Bahin eligibility | Condition |
|---|---|
| Age limit | Women aged 21 to 65 are eligible. |
| Residence | She must be a resident of Maharashtra. |
| Who is covered | Married, widowed, divorced, abandoned and destitute women. |
| Unmarried women | One unmarried woman per family is covered. |
| Income limit | Family income must not exceed ₹2.50 lakh. |
| Bank account | She needs her own Aadhaar-linked account. |
Note: The minimum is 21 years completed, and the benefit continues until 65 years is completed.
The marital-status condition is broader than the scheme’s name suggests. Widowed, divorced, abandoned and destitute women are covered on the same footing as married women, so a woman who assumes the scheme is only for married applicants may be ruling herself out unnecessarily. The one restriction is on unmarried women, where a single applicant per family is permitted.
Documents required and the accepted substitutes
This is where most applications stall. The portal lists a specific document set, and it allows several substitutes when the obvious certificate is not available, which is worth knowing before paying for a new certificate you may not need.
| Ladki Bahin documents | Rule |
|---|---|
| Aadhaar card | The name must match the Aadhaar card exactly. |
| Domicile certificate | A domicile certificate or an accepted alternative. |
| Born outside Maharashtra | Her husband’s documents are accepted. |
| Yellow or orange ration card | No income certificate is needed. |
| White card or none | An income certificate up to ₹2.50 lakh is needed. |
| Newly married | Husband’s ration card plus marriage certificate. |
| Other documents | Bank details, an undertaking and a photo. |
Note: Instead of a domicile certificate, one of these is accepted: a ration card or voter ID at least 15 years old, a birth certificate or a school leaving certificate. A woman born outside Maharashtra can use her husband’s 15-year-old ration card or voter ID, birth certificate, school leaving certificate or domicile certificate. A yellow or orange ration card itself proves the income condition. A newly married woman not yet on the ration card uses her husband’s card with the marriage certificate as income proof. The bank account must be Aadhaar-linked.
Application steps
The application is made on the official Maharashtra portal. Every link named here is listed in the Important Links section at the end.
- Open the official Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin portal and go to the applicant login page.
- Choose the create-account option to register as a new applicant if you do not already have a login.
- Enter your full name exactly as printed on your Aadhaar card, since a mismatch here is a common rejection reason.
- Select your district, taluka, village and municipal corporation or council from the lists provided.
- Set a mobile number and password, accept the terms and complete the captcha to create the account.
- Log in and complete the application, uploading the documents listed above and the bank account details.
- Complete e-KYC where the portal asks for it, and save the acknowledgement for later status checks.
The ration-card rule is the part that saves the most time. A yellow or orange card is itself treated as proof of the income condition, so applicants holding one do not need to visit a tehsil office for a separate income certificate at all. Only white-card holders and those with no ration card need to obtain one, and the threshold is annual income up to ₹2.50 lakh.
Status check and applicant login
Status is checked from inside the applicant account rather than from a public search page, so the login credentials created at application time are what you need.
| Ladki Bahin status check | Where |
|---|---|
| Status check | Log in on the applicant portal. |
| e-KYC | Complete it in the portal’s e-KYC section. |
| Forgot password | Reset it from the sign-in page. |
| Portal error | Use the report-an-error link. |
Note: Log in with the registered mobile number and password. An incomplete e-KYC is a frequent reason an approved application shows no payment. The sign-in page also unlocks a locked account, so a lost password needs no fresh application.
If your payment is not received
An approved application and a received payment are two separate things. Work through these in order before assuming the application was rejected.
| Ladki Bahin payment not received | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| Approved but no payment | The bank account is not Aadhaar-linked. |
| e-KYC pending | Complete the e-KYC on the portal. |
| Name mismatch | Match the name to Aadhaar exactly. |
| Income proof missing | Submit an income certificate up to ₹2.50 lakh. |
| Age over 65 | Payments end after 65. |
| Account in another name | Use an account in her own name. |
Note: The transfer runs on DBT, so an unlinked account cannot receive it even after approval. The income certificate is needed with a white ration card or none.
One practical point on timing. Because verification runs continuously rather than in a single batch, an application submitted today does not wait for a fixed review date, and the status inside the account is the only reliable indicator of where it has reached. Checking the account is more useful than waiting for an SMS, since alerts can fail where the registered mobile number has changed since the application was created.
Helpline 181 and where to get help
Use the state helpline for scheme questions and your bank branch for anything to do with the account or Aadhaar seeding, since those two sit with different offices.
| Ladki Bahin helpline number | Contact |
|---|---|
| Helpline | Call 181, the toll-free number. |
| Department office | The WCD office is in Mumbai 400032. |
| Local help | Anganwadi centres, ward offices and Setu centres help. |
| Bank or Aadhaar problems | Your bank branch handles these. |
Note: 181 was shown in the header of the official portal on 20 August 2026. The department’s address is 3rd Floor, New Administrative Building, Madam Cama Road, Hutatma Rajguru Chowk, Mumbai 400032. Aadhaar seeding and DBT readiness are handled by the bank, not by the scheme.
Keep the registered mobile number active and reachable. It is the identifier used for login, for password recovery and for scheme alerts, and losing access to it is one of the harder problems to unwind later because the account is tied to it.
