Bihar Police SI Syllabus 2026 – Exam Pattern

The Bihar Police SI syllabus for the 2026 cycle (BPSSC Advt 09/2026) keeps the structure BPSSC has run for the last several daroga recruitments: a 200-mark prelims on general knowledge, a two-paper mains where General Hindi is qualifying, then the physical test. Stage 1: Prelims

The prelims paper is entirely General Knowledge and Current Affairs: Indian history with Bihar-specific movements, geography of India and Bihar, polity and constitution, economy basics, general science, and current events of roughly the last year. Bihar-centric questions (governors, schemes, festivals, rivers, districts) show up every cycle and are the cheapest marks in the paper. Prelims marks do not count in the final merit; the exam only filters entry to mains.

Stage 2: Mains — two papers

Paper 1: General Hindi (qualifying)

Covers vyakaran (grammar), paryayvachi/vilom, muhavare, sandhi, samas, gadyansh comprehension and Class 10-12 level Hindi usage. Native Hindi speakers still fail this paper by skipping preparation entirely; give it one clean revision week.

Paper 2: GK, GS and Mental Ability (merit paper)

Sections: general studies (history, geography, polity, economy at deeper level than prelims), general science, mathematics at Class 10 level (arithmetic, percentage, ratio, SI/CI, mensuration), and mental ability (series, analogy, coding, syllogism, direction, data sufficiency). This paper alone decides the written merit, so preparation hours should be split heavily toward it.

Stage 3: Physical Eligibility Test

PET is qualifying but merciless: each event is pass/fail with no relaxation in timing. More serious aspirants are eliminated here than in prelims, usually on the run. Start the 1.6 km practice in July, not after the mains result.

Final merit

Merit list = Paper 2 marks of candidates who cleared PET, with document verification and medical at the end. There is no interview in the SI cadre process.

Preparation pointers for this cycle

1. With only 150 posts this year, expect the Paper 2 cut-off to climb; the safe target is 65 percent+ in mocks.
2. Use previous BPSSC daroga papers (2020-2023 cycles) — the pattern is unchanged and repeats question styles.
3. Bihar special GK deserves its own notebook: districts, schemes, Bihar economic survey highlights, recent state appointments.
