There is no Ayushman card last date, and the Ayushman Bharat 2026 5 Lakh Health Card has never had one. PM-JAY is an entitlement, not an application window: if your household sits on the eligibility database, or you are 70 or older, you can finish eKYC and generate the card on any day of the year. We opened the National Health Authority beneficiary portal on 10.09.2026 and found no closing date, no deadline banner and no countdown on it. What it does carry is a separate card for people aged 70 and above.
Position on 10.09.2026
Five official addresses were opened this morning and they did not all behave the same way. The beneficiary, hospital, grievance and NHA sites answered normally. The main pmjay.gov.in address did not respond at all, which is worth knowing before you conclude something has changed.
| Ayushman card status | Position on 10.09.2026 |
|---|---|
| Last date | There is no last date or deadline on the beneficiary portal. |
| Beneficiary portal | It is open, with login by mobile number or member ID. |
| Two cards | There is an ordinary card and a Vay Vandana card for 70 and above. |
| Make card yourself | You can now create the card yourself in the Ayushman app. |
| Hospital and grievance portals | Both hospital and grievance portals were working. |
| Ayushman app | The portal pushes its own app for self-service cards. |
| pmjay.gov.in | It did not respond on 10.09.2026, so use the subdomains. |
Note: The subdomains that answered were hospitals.pmjay.gov.in and cgrms.pmjay.gov.in. The portal says in Hindi that no mediator is needed to create the card. A non-responding main site does not mean the scheme has changed.

Two separate routes in, and only one depends on income
This is not one queue with one set of rules. There are two routes in, they qualify you on completely different grounds, and a single household can end up holding both kinds of card at once. Which route applies to you decides whether the eligibility search will ever return your name at all.
| Ayushman eligibility | What it requires |
|---|---|
| Household database route | Your household must already be on the deprivation database. |
| Age 70 and above | Vay Vandana covers anyone 70+, with no income test. |
| Both in one family | A 70+ member gets separate Vay Vandana cover. |
| Cover amount | 5 lakh rupees a year, cashless at empanelled hospitals. |
| What eKYC does | It verifies you are on the database, it is not an application. |
| OPD cover | Routine outpatient care is not covered, some OPD tests are. |
| Other states | The card works at empanelled hospitals in every state. |
| Cost | Checking, eKYC, card creation and download are all free. |
Note: No form adds you to the database. The cover is for secondary and tertiary hospitalisation, and some package codes cover OPD diagnostics. Portability matters for anyone treated away from home.
Card download, and why the status sits on pending
A pending status is not a rejection. It means the verification has been submitted and is sitting with somebody else. The portal now lets you complete the whole thing yourself through the app, which cuts out the middle step where these used to get stuck.
| Ayushman card pending | What to do |
|---|---|
| Status pending | eKYC is awaiting approval by the verifying authority. |
| Name not found | Try both the mobile route and the member ID route. |
| Make card in app | You can generate the card yourself, no CSC visit needed. |
| Card download | Download it from the same portal login after approval. |
| Aadhaar mismatch | Name and date of birth must match the database entry. |
| Two logins | A blank result on one login does not settle it, check the other. |
| Help on portal | Chat support and video guides are on the portal. |
| Card lost | Reprint it free from the portal, no fresh eKYC needed. |
Note: The card appears in the same login once cleared. The two logins query different things, so a genuine absence means the household is not on the database. The video guides are kept separately for the ordinary card and the Vay Vandana card.
The suspension register, and hospitals not in your scheme
Empanelment is not permanent. The official portal runs a second search, entirely separate from the main one, for hospitals suspended from PM-JAY. The same search hides a second trap: not every hospital it returns is in your scheme at all.
| Ayushman hospital list | Official portal |
|---|---|
| Two hospital registers | One lists empanelled hospitals, another suspended ones. |
| Check before admission | A suspended hospital cannot give cashless treatment. |
| Search method | By state, district, hospital ID or status, with a captcha. |
| Empanelled filters | State, district, speciality, name and hospital type. |
| Suspended search filters | Hospital ID, state, district, status and suspension period. |
| Unknown district | Use the map view instead of guessing. |
| CGHS or CAPF hospitals | Hospitals marked Only CGHS or Only CAPF do not take Ayushman cards. |
| Empanelment types | Filter to PMJAY, PMJAY and CGHS, or PMJAY and CAPF. |
| Speciality filters | Search by any of 89 specialities. |
| PSU hospitals | PSU and NHCP appear as separate entries, not under states. |
| Treatment refused | Refusal by an empanelled hospital is a CGRMS grievance. |
Note: A stale copy of the list elsewhere can show a hospital that is now suspended. Hospital types split into public, private not-for-profit and private for-profit. The seven empanelment values are PMJAY, PMJAY and CGHS, PMJAY and CAPF, Only CGHS, Only CAPF, CMHIS and KASS. The 89 specialities range from general medicine and cardiology to joint replacement, transplant, polytrauma, paediatric cancer and gender affirming treatment.
Helpline 14555 and escalating a refusal
The helpline handles questions. A refusal is a different thing and needs a written complaint with a reference number attached, because a phone call leaves you nothing to follow up with and nothing to escalate. The two routes are separate systems, and using the wrong one costs days.
| Ayushman helpline number | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Helpline 14555 | Call for eligibility, card and scheme questions. |
| CGRMS portal | Use it for refused admission or a demand for payment. |
| Written complaint | A CGRMS complaint gets a trackable reference number. |
| Asked to pay | Covered treatment is cashless, a demand for money is a grievance. |
| State helplines | Many states run their own numbers too. |
| Suspended hospital | Check the suspended list before complaining. |
| Documents to keep | The card, admission papers and the registered hospital name. |
Note: A phone call cannot be escalated later. State numbers are usually on the state health agency site.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the last date to apply for an Ayushman card?
There is none, and there never has been. PM-JAY is an entitlement rather than an application window. We opened the NHA beneficiary portal on 10.09.2026 and found no closing date, no deadline banner and no countdown anywhere on it. If your household is on the eligibility database, or you are 70 or above, you can complete eKYC on any day.
Why is pmjay.gov.in not opening?
The main pmjay.gov.in address did not respond to our connection attempts on 10.09.2026. Its subdomains did answer normally on the same day, so use beneficiary.nha.gov.in for eligibility and card work, hospitals.pmjay.gov.in for hospitals and cgrms.pmjay.gov.in for complaints. Nothing about the scheme itself has changed.
Can someone over 70 get an Ayushman card if the family is not eligible?
Yes. The Vay Vandana route qualifies people aged 70 and above on age alone, with no income test and no need for the household to appear on the eligibility database. The beneficiary portal treats it as a separate card, with its own card-creation guidance alongside the ordinary one.
My Ayushman card status shows pending, what does that mean?
It means eKYC has been submitted and is waiting on approval from the verifying authority. It is not a rejection, and there is no fee or form that speeds it up. The commonest cause of a stall is an Aadhaar mismatch, because the name and date of birth have to match the database entry rather than simply be correct.
How do I know a hospital still accepts Ayushman cards?
Check both official registers, not just one. hospitals.pmjay.gov.in runs a search for empanelled hospitals and a completely separate search for suspended ones. A hospital that has been suspended cannot provide cashless treatment, and third-party hospital lists rarely reflect a suspension. Both searches are captcha-protected, so run them yourself.
