UP Special TET 2026 Apply Online opened on 05.09.2026 under Advertisement No. 03/2026, issued by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission on 03.09.2026. The window closes on 04.10.2026 and the paper is fixed for 03.11.2026. Only teachers already working in UP primary and upper primary schools, plus special educators registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India, are allowed to sit for it.

Most listings summarise the press note. The figures below come from the 16-page advertisement itself, checked against the commission’s notice board on 05.09.2026.

Is this a recruitment or only an eligibility test

Most listings call this a 2,500-post recruitment. The advertisement does not. What a candidate gets for clearing it is an eligibility certificate, and no appointment follows from the result.

Is it a 2,500 post recruitmentSpecial teacher and assistant teacher (CWSN) posts referenced in Supreme Court Writ Petition 132/2016, Rajneesh Kumar Pandey and others vs Union of India, order dated 07.03.2025. The advertisement itself uses the word “approximately”.
Does qualifying give a jobNo. Clause 10.2 provides only for an eligibility certificate to candidates who reach the qualifying score.
Why this exam was announcedSupreme Court Civil Appeal 1385/2025 made TET compulsory for every teacher on 01.09.2025. The review order of 29.05.2026 then gave serving teachers until 31 August 2028 to clear it.
Which teachers the deadline coversEvery teacher already in service at primary and upper primary level, whatever their appointment year.

Who can apply and who cannot

The eligibility clause rules out most people who read the headline. Worth checking before paying anything.

Eligibility for special educators, classes 1 to 5Contract or daily-wage CWSN teachers for classes 1 to 5, holding a graduate degree plus an RCI-recognised D.Ed Special Education, with an active CRR number.

Keep checking the official site rather than trusting a third-party apply button.

Application fee and how to apply online

The fee applies to each level separately, which is the other figure being misreported. A teacher who wants both primary and upper primary certification pays twice.

General, OBC and EWSRs 1,000 for primary level and Rs 1,000 for upper primary level
SC and STRs 500 per level
DivyangjanRs 300 per level
Total fee for both levelsRs 2,000 for general, OBC and EWS, Rs 1,000 for SC and ST, Rs 600 for Divyangjan
How to pay the application feeCredit card, debit card and net banking through the portal gateway. Nothing offline.

One Time Registration comes first, and the form itself has to be filled in English. Category, date of birth and gender are locked once the form is submitted, so the correction window will not help with those. The photo has to be 30 to 300 KB, the signature 10 to 200 KB at 140 by 110 pixels, and each supporting document 50 to 500 KB in PDF. A fee paid on a rejected or duplicate form is not refunded and cannot be carried over.

Only a black ball point pen is allowed on the OMR sheet, and whitener, erasers and blades will void it. Divyangjan candidates get 20 extra minutes per hour with a scribe they bring themselves, but they have to register at the commission office in Prayagraj a week before the paper so the seating can be arranged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a fresher or an unemployed B.Ed holder apply for UP Special TET 2026?

No. Advertisement No. 03/2026 opens the exam only to teachers already serving in state-run, local body, aided or recognised primary and upper primary schools, and to contract or daily-wage CWSN special educators with RCI registration. There is no open category.

Does clearing UP Special TET 2026 give a teaching job?

No. Clause 10.2 of the advertisement provides only for an eligibility certificate to candidates who reach the qualifying score. The exam does not fill any post, and the figure of about 2,500 special teacher posts comes from a separate Supreme Court matter, Writ Petition 132/2016.

What is the total fee if a teacher applies for both primary and upper primary levels?

Rs 2,000 for general, OBC and EWS candidates, because the fee of Rs 1,000 applies to each level separately. SC and ST candidates pay Rs 1,000 for both levels and Divyangjan candidates pay Rs 600.

How many marks are needed to qualify in UP Special TET 2026?

90 out of 150, which is 60 per cent, for general candidates. SC, ST, OBC, EWS, dependents of freedom fighters, ex-servicemen and disabled candidates need 82 out of 150, which is 55 per cent. EWS is grouped with the reserved categories here.

Is there an age limit for UP Special TET 2026?

The advertisement sets a maximum age of 60 years as on 03.11.2026, and that limit applies only to contract and daily-wage special educators. No age ceiling is stated for regular serving teachers.

Why has this exam been announced now?

The Supreme Court made TET compulsory for all teachers in Civil Appeal 1385/2025 on 01.09.2025, and its review order of 29.05.2026 gave serving teachers until 31 August 2028 to clear it. This exam is how UP is letting existing teachers meet that deadline.
