The SSC CGL previous year paper 2024 all shift PDF set below is five Tier-1 shifts from September 2024, and each file is a candidate response sheet exported by the exam engine rather than a retyped copy. Three shifts ran on 09 September 2024 and one each on 11 and 13 September. The exam windows below are printed inside the response sheets themselves, so they are the real slot timings rather than the schedule announced beforehand.

The 11 September file holds 99 question blocks, not 100. One Quantitative Aptitude block is absent from that export. We have left the file as it came rather than patching in a question from somewhere else, and the shortfall is stated on the analysis page bound into the front of it.

One file behaves differently when you open it. In the 09 September Shift 3 export the four section headings do not come through the text layer, so the sections are unlabelled even though the question count and the split of 25 each are identical to the other shifts. The questions themselves are intact and readable, and the analysis page inside that file says so rather than printing section names it could not actually read.

Does the exam repeat questions across shifts?

This is the most searched thing about these papers and it usually gets answered with a guess. A response sheet lets you settle it, because the question ID printed under each option set is the commission’s own identifier for that item. Two shifts using the same item would show the same ID.

So the honest answer sits between the two things people say. Nobody sat an afternoon shift and met a question from the morning slot again. But the paper is built out of a fixed set of formats, and roughly one in ten of those formats turns up in four or five shifts out of five. So practise the format and forget about hunting for a question that will come back.

Most repeated questions, by format

These are counted by matching the opening words of each question against every other shift. The number on the right is how many of the five papers contained that format at all.

Six of those ten are English, the section candidates most often treat as unpredictable. Spelling, error spotting, one-word substitution and the jumbled-sentence question each showed up in four or five shifts. If your revision time is short, those four carry the best odds of appearing.

Of the 499 blocks, 145 sit in the General Intelligence and Reasoning section. The mix below is indicative rather than official tagging. It comes from matching question wording against topic keywords, and about a third of the items did not fall cleanly into any one bucket, so those are left out instead of being forced into the nearest label.

Marks, negative marking and time per question

Do this arithmetic once before your first practice run. It changes how you attempt the paper.

In the 09 September Shift 1 sheet the candidate answered 86 questions and left 14 untouched. That is one real slot, one real attempt, which beats the usual advice to attempt everything.

How to download the question paper and use it

Treat each file as a timed slot rather than as reading material.

1. Set a 60 minute timer and work the paper straight through, without pausing to check anything.
2. Mark the questions you guessed separately from the ones you got wrong, before you score it.
3. Score it the way the exam does: 2 for a correct answer, minus 0.5 for a wrong one.
4. Match your wrong answers against the format list above and see which recurring format is costing you marks.
5. Take the next shift only after you have fixed one of those formats, not on the same day.

English most repeated questions, by type

English is where the format repetition above bites hardest, so read this breakdown next to it. Same caveat as the reasoning table: the labels come from matching question wording, and anything that would not classify cleanly is left as it is rather than pushed into a bucket.

Vocabulary carries the section. Synonyms and antonyms alone account for a quarter of it, and if you add the cloze passage and the substitution question, three question types cover more than half of all the English asked across these five slots.

How many questions are good attempts

Every response sheet records whether each question was answered, left blank or flagged for review. So each sheet shows what one candidate actually did with the hour.

The spread runs from 82 answered to 95 across five sheets, so nobody left a quarter of the paper untouched and nobody attempted all 100 either. Somewhere in the mid to high eighties, with the rest skipped rather than guessed, is what these sheets show as a workable attempt at this pattern. Read that as five data points, not as a target, since each sheet is one candidate rather than an average.

Each file opens with a one page analysis of that shift before the paper starts, so the numbers above are also inside the download itself. The five papers together run about 5 MB, and none of them needs an app or a login to open.

Some of what people expect from a paper download is genuinely missing here. Better to say so now than let you find out after five downloads.

The commission publishes the answer key separately during its objection window and pulls it down afterwards. That is why no site can hand you a permanent copy alongside the paper.
