PNB LBO Recruitment 2026 online application is open for 545 Local Bank Officer posts in Punjab National Bank. Candidates can apply online from 20.07.2026 to 09.08.2026 through the IBPS portal linked by PNB. The post is in JMGS-I and the selected candidates will be posted in the state for which they apply.

PNB has notified 545 Local Bank Officer vacancies. The largest vacancy numbers are Assam 85, West Bengal 80, Karnataka 78, Gujarat 77, Maharashtra 67, Tamil Nadu 51 and Telangana 41. Other vacancies are Andhra Pradesh 4, Jammu and Kashmir 9, Ladakh 2, Arunachal Pradesh 4, Manipur 6, Meghalaya 8, Mizoram 5, Nagaland 5, Sikkim 5 and Tripura 18. Candidates can apply for one state only. PNB will prepare the merit list state wise and category wise.

PNB Local Bank Officer eligibility

For PNB LBO Recruitment 2026, the candidate must be a graduate in any discipline from a university or institution recognized or approved by the Government of India or its regulatory bodies. The candidate should have a valid mark sheet or degree certificate while registering online.

The age limit is 20 to 30 years as on 01.07.2026. Age relaxation applies as per Government of India rules. PNB has also asked for minimum one year post qualification work experience in clerical or officer cadre in a Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank listed in the Second Schedule of the RBI Act. Candidates must also be able to read, write and speak the specified local language of the state selected in the application.

Salary

The pay scale for Local Bank Officer JMGS-I is Rs. 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920. Selected candidates will also receive DA, CCA, HRA or leased accommodation, leave fare concession, medical insurance, retirement benefits and other perquisites as per bank rules. Selected candidates will have a two year probation period and must execute an indemnity bond to serve the bank for at least three years or pay Rs. 2,00,000 if they leave earlier.

PNB Local Bank Officer exam pattern

The selection process has four stages: online written test, screening, local language proficiency test and personal interview. The online test has 150 questions for 150 marks. Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis and Interpretation, English Language and Quantitative Aptitude have 25 questions each. General, Economy and Banking Awareness has 50 questions. There is negative marking of one fourth mark for each wrong answer.

General and EWS candidates must score at least 40 percent in each section. Reserved category candidates must score at least 35 percent in each section. The personal interview is for 50 marks. The minimum interview marks are 22.50 for SC/ST candidates and 25 for other candidates. Final selection will use written test and interview performance, subject to qualifying the local language test wherever it applies.

PNB LBO notification details

The official notification says that candidates can apply for one state only. After selection, the candidate will remain posted in the selected state until completion of nine years of service or promotion to SMG Scale IV, whichever is earlier. This matters because the local language requirement is tied to the state selected in the application form.

Candidates who studied the specified local language in Class 10 or Class 12 may be exempted from the Local Language Proficiency Test, but only after producing valid proof during verification. Others will have to appear for the test. The test checks reading, writing and speaking ability in the concerned local language.
