Assam’s Orunodoi scheme has gone through three versions since 2020, and the latest one — Orunodoi 3.0 — pays more, covers more households, and picked up an extra component in 2026 that a lot of older write-ups haven’t caught up with yet. Here’s the current, accurate picture. Last updated: 10.07.2026.

Scheme details and amount

DetailInfo
Current versionOrunodoi 3.0 (launched 7 October 2025)
Base monthly amount₹1,250
2026 LPG subsidy add-on+₹250/month, from January 2026 — effective total ₹1,500/month for eligible households
CoverageRoughly 38–40 lakh households under 3.0

How the scheme has grown

Orunodoi 1.0 launched 2 October 2020 at ₹830/month for around 17 lakh households. Orunodoi 2.0 followed on 14 December 2022, raising it to ₹1,000/month. Orunodoi 3.0, launched 7 October 2025, brought it to ₹1,250/month and more than doubled coverage to 38-40 lakh households. The January 2026 LPG subsidy addition takes the effective monthly transfer to ₹1,500 for eligible households.

Separately, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a one-time ₹9,000 grant, credited on 10 March 2026. This was explicitly a one-off consolidated top-up, not a permanent revision of the ₹1,250 base rate — don’t confuse this with a new recurring amount.

Who is eligible

  • Typically enrolled under NFSA (National Food Security Act) ration coverage.

Who is excluded

  • Any government employee or income-tax payer in the family.

How to apply — offline only

Despite some claims of an online application process, Orunodoi runs on an offline-only application system:

  1. Collect the physical application form from your Gram Panchayat office (rural areas) or Urban Local Body/Ward office (urban areas).
  2. Fill in the form completely and attach the required documents.
  3. Submit at the same Panchayat/ULB office.
  4. Collect an acknowledgment slip — keep this, since there’s no online tracking beyond the beneficiary list lookup described below.

Documents required

  • Valid ration card
  • Aadhaar card of the applicant and relevant household members — must be bank-seeded before applying
  • Active savings bank passbook in the beneficiary woman’s name
  • Residence proof (ration card or voter ID)
  • Optionally, a localized electricity bill or land possession certificate (Jamabandi/Patta) as alternate residence proof

Checking the beneficiary list

  2. Select your district, block, and village/ward.
  3. Look up your name in the published beneficiary list.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply for Orunodoi online?
No — despite some third-party claims of an online process, the actual application route is offline, through your Gram Panchayat or Urban Local Body office.

Is the ₹9,000 payment a new permanent monthly amount?
No — it was a one-time top-up credited on 10 March 2026, separate from the regular ₹1,250/month (or ₹1,500 with the LPG add-on) recurring transfer.

What disqualifies a household?
Government employment, income-tax payer status in the family, owning 15+ bighas of land, a four-wheeler, a refrigerator, or a tractor, or drawing another state pension above ₹1,000/month.

Since there’s no online application form, the fastest path is visiting your Gram Panchayat or Ward office directly with your ration card and bank-seeded Aadhaar already in hand — that alone avoids the most common reason applications stall.
