10.08.2026: The Backward Classes Development Department issued amendment circular BCDIR/376/2026-A2. It cancelled the 30.05.2025 circular, whose application timeline could not be sustained for technical reasons on the e-Grantz portal, and revised the Palakkad regional office address. The base circular therefore remains in force.
04.01.2025: Circular BCDIR/430/2024-A2 set the standing annual timeline for the scheme: schools accept applications from pupils by 31 August each year and complete e-Grantz data entry by 30 September. It states that no separate notification will be issued each year.
14.09.2023: The scheme was introduced by G.O. (Rt) No. 86/2023/BCDD and has run from the 2023-24 academic year, giving Rs 1,500 a year to selected OBC pupils in Classes 1 to 8.
